“…. sail on, O Ship of State!
Sail on, O Union, strong and great!
Humanity with all its fears,
With all the hopes of future years,
Is hanging breathless on thy fate!”

  • Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
  • Mummy, when you get back to Nigeria, tell my people to remain one in unity. Tell Nigerians to remain one in love, tell my Plateau people that they must remain one. Tell my people to imbibe unity, peace and love."
  • - The last words of Chief Daushep Solomon Lar, through his wife, Mary Lar to his Plateau people, the Middle Belters and Nigerians in general.

Cross River State governor, Professor Ben Ayade Monday commiserated with the widow of late Brigadier General Anthony Ukpo (rtd), Mrs Salome Ufoma Ukpo and their children.

Ayade, who was at the Calabar residence of the late former Military Administrator of Rivers State, consoled the family, assuring them of government support and participation in the funeral rites.

He said the death of the retired General only reinforces his philosophy about life, which is that life is but vanity.

“That is just my philosophy about life. From nothing to nothing, life is just a waste. General Ukpo was a great man, a great warrior, he lived very strongly for this country. He had established factories and industries to create jobs for his people.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo says the Nigerian Navy is set to establish an outpost at Ikang and a naval security station at Dayspring Island. Both locations are in the Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River which shares maritime boundary with the Republican of Cameroon.
Speaking Thursday during a courtesy call on the state governor, Professor Ben Ayade at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Calabar, Vice Admiral Gambo explained that the move has become necessary “because we are aware of the security situation in the state- cultists, kidnappers and other criminal elements- and to that effect, it has been part of our strategic plan and I think it is expedient that speedily we establish outpost and security station in these locations so that we can improve our security architecture in the state and of course, secure our borders and around the Republic of Cameroon.”

FG, Cross River Set to Build 1000 Social Housing Units

Disclosing the flag of the project during a presentation to the state governor, Sir Ben Ayade in Calabar, Managing Director of Family Homes Funds Limited, Femi Adewole, said “the scheme is a new program that was instituted in October 2020 as one of the economic sustainability plans of the federal government in response to the effects of Covid-19.” By it’s nature, this program is targeted at Nigerians on very low income with the directive from the committee that the houses should cost no more than two million naira and that is basically to ensure that it is affordable to civil servants who are earning the minimum wage.”

Cross River state governor, Sir Ben Ayade has expressed his excitement following the commencement of production of chocolate bars at the Ikom Cocoa Processing Factory.

The cocoa processing factory is one of the several agro-alied factories established by the Ayade-lef administration as part of its agricultural revolution.
Speaking shortly after being conducted round the various production chains of the factory, Ayade said the time had come for Africa to begin to reap the full benefit of its cocoa value chain.
He regretted the fact that although Africa “accounts for eighty six percent of world cocoa production, it unfortunately, in terms of the economy, gains only six percent which means that Africa produces 86%of cocoa, export the cocoa beans and in turn goes back and import chocolate into Africa. This process has come to an end. So what you find here is a full cocoa processing plant from the tree to chocolate for final consumption.”

His Excellency, Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe

…As Gombe Revenue Service Emerges 6th Fastest Growing State in IGR

The Gombe State Internal Revenue Service has promised to improve its services to increase its Internally Generated Revenue, IGR.
Speaking in Gombe during the presentation of an Award of Excellence to Gombe Internal Revenue Service by “Revenue Magazine”, the Chairman GSIRS, Abubakar Inuwa Tata said before the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the state was earning about 500 million naira monthly in IGR, which included the state PayE, Local Government and SUBEB. But during Governor Yahaya’s administration, 716 million naira was being realised monthly, including the state PayE, Local Government, SUBEB and Local Education Authority.
“From January to August 2021 on the average, we have 786 million naira, including the payE. We will continue to improve to ensure the number keeps growing,” he said.
“However, with what we have seen from the Revenue Service in the last few years, it is not the effort of the executive chairman alone,” he stated.
He said the award was dedicated to the entire staff of the service, who have worked day and night to enhance improved revenue of Gombe State.
He gave an assurance of the integrity of the members of staff in ensuring that all government revenue goes to government coffers.
“I want to assure you that the numbers will be bigger than the number you are seeing even though our increment is five percent yearly…,” he said.
Presenting the award to Inuwa Tata, Chairman of the Revenue Magazine, Mr. Frederick Apeji, said the annual Nigerian States IGR awards programme was designed to encourage and foster a healthy competition among the 36 states of the Federation and the FCT.

The State of the World’s Trees reveals that one-third of tree species are threatened with extinction. Although this news underlines the magnitude of the global challenge, successful Global Trees Campaign (GTC) projects from the past 20 years demonstrate that we can effectively protect and conserve threatened tree species. Now is the time for global action.
