DEDICATED TO SISTER LEAH SHARIBU, ONE OF THE MODERN WORLD'S GREAT DEFENDERS OF THE FAITH

Continuing his argument about his campaign for a Nigerian of Igbo extraction to be handed the keys to the UNITY HOUSE at the UNITY VILLAGE (Aso Rock Villa) as the next tenant in that high and exalted holy ground of service, JOHN ODEY ADUMA in this treatise of his, asks all the anti-unity-anti-peace-anti-justice, and anti-zoning elements in Nigeria thus: if not zoning, then what?

And he thinks applying the Federal Character Principles, especially the quota system formula to Ndigbo quest for power – service and stewardship at the centre as has been applied in the realm of education admissions over the years to the current political quagmire which potentially foreshadows a political logjam that would eventually lead to a crisis of immense magnitude in the coming years beyond 2023, is first and foremost, not about zoning; and to further drum home his patriotic message to all with perpetual born to rule mentality – the Fulanists/Fulanians, the Hausaites/Hausaians, the Kanurists/Kanurians, the Arabists/Arabians, the Shuwa Arabists/Arabians, the Northernists, the Arewaites, the Gamjites/Gamjians, but it is about remediation, correction, levelization, and running and having a country with a sense of justice, fairness, love, building an egalitarian society of fraternal proximity and universal altruism aiming at neighbourhoodism, communalism and nationhood rather than the current proliferation of secession merchants who double as merchants of purposeless wickedness and violence of immeasurably proportion with their agenda induced more than anything else, by unparalleled greed, mindless mercantilism/pecuniary consideration and crass materialism devoid of selflessness and the sincere desire to indeed, right the wrongs in every nook and cranny of the Federation.

Therefore, what Mr Aduma has in mind is to identify with other champions of Ndigbo’s quest for leadership of Nigeria at the commanding height of the national polity is about having the national conscience, the national cum regional and cultural sensitivity to power balance the polity for the sake of national, regional (both within and without), continental, global peace, national and universal brotherhood of mankind so as to keep our country perpetually as a sort of indivisible plenum, promoting national unity in diversity  because diversity is beautiful; national integration and cohesion, making all Nigerians, not giving heed to the likes of DCP Ibrahim Babazango, but go on to build one country of indissoluble union so as to have and enjoy a sense of belongingness and purpose, where all the Nigerian people shall see and regard themselves as equal joiners, joint heirs, having equal stake in the Nigerian Federation, project, dream, vision and mission, aspirations, philosophy together and as equal stakeholders and shareholders, having and enjoying equal entitlements with a common inheritance, each with a national promissory note to as when needed, access the resources of our Commonwealth, both subjacent, super and suprajacent, without any Nigerian having to be disfavoured or treated unfavourably or unfairly by the ‘apex bank’ upon the presentation of the PN or at the table of brotherhood as under the current lopsided arrangement, whereupon, some are treated as children of the political kingdom of Nigeria – super citizens, and the rest as either second class citizens or actually as zero citizens - disrobed or stripped of their citizenship together with all their entitlements and national inheritances or as nobodies and without existence.

THE JOHN ADUMA’S NATIONAL TETRADIC (JANT) - The Application of the JANT FACTORS in national development, resource allocation and distribution, eventuating in the tetradic factors in geographical restructuring and power balancing in Nigeria, using the below parameters or concepts (ZRCL):

  1. ZONING
  2. REMEDIATION
  3. CORRECTION
  4. LEVELIZATION OR LEVELING UP

Readers should be made aware that the JANT FACTORS can also be referred to as THE JANT FORMULA/E or or THE JANT PRINCIPLES or simply THE TETRADIC FACTORS

TURAKISM vs. CONSCIENCISM AND NIGERIANISM: AN APPEAL TO NATIONAL CONSCIENCE AND JUSTICE

“We are zoning to zone the unzoned, surmounting the surmountable.”

  • Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe, a Nigerian politician and statesman.

Turakism is mindless Fulanism and the worst type of bigotry cum Buharism/Buharianism.

It echoes and reverberates total selfishness, fathomless and uncontrollable gluttony, grandiose/gargantuan and acute/incurable Fulaniasis, thriving only on an unparalleled medievalism/antediluvianism with an ideology rooted in bestial kleptocracy and dry elitism of I-ism/me-ism (me first, the nation can go to hell, burn and cease to exist) as against we-ism/us-ism, them-ism, heartless and ferocious opportunism, absolute greed, gross inconsideration coupled with crass stupidity, revelling in purposeless malignity, and having as it were, bestial and extreme Islamism/jihadism/Arabism (Salafism/Wahabism/Sunnism) cum Fulani-Hausapoly as its bedrock.

Atiku Abubakar sure has lost his sense of justice, seems a man who has never had contact with modern civilization, the golden rule, the royal law, the rule of law, thus leaving him with a desert-ridden heart, mind and soul, totally lacking love, consideration for the other fellow, the art and science of esteeming others better than oneself, so able to hear, but cannot listen and reason, suffering from the worst form of the absurdity of the absurd.

My fellow Nigerians, must therefore, in these perilous times in our national odyssey fraught with grave uncertainties listen to the voice of reason, and not such a how-for-do professional presidential candidate (H4DPPC) like Atiku Abubakar.

Enter, K.O: We are zoning to zone the unzoned, surmounting the surmountable….

  • Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe, a Nigerian politician and statesman.

But generally speaking, where are the nation’s voices of reason, visionaries, dreamers, missionaries, ‘mad’ men and women, iconoclasts, nonconformists, reformers, “subversive elements”, philosophers, conscientious nationalists, service and stewardship-orientated politicians with unwavering conviction (playing conviction-driven and purposeful politics) with genuine hearts to render selfless services to first to God, to their fellow men and women and all of humanity, not motivated by pecuniary gains nor acquisitiveness nor the satanic obsession to partake of the so-called national cake with their now trite question of “what is in it for me(?), but motivated by the collective good of society, not seeking wealth without working (WWW), nor follow every JAGABAN or ACHABA (Abacha) without moral restraint, contentment and a sense of human face consideration tempered with unparalleled moderation to loot the national treasury mindlessly, but people with deep reasoning abilities, sobers, reflective, creative, innovative, imaginative and inventive personalities bold and fearless blessed with strategic thinking and imbued with a Christ-like compassion for the Nigerian people and all of humanity and who will invest the national minas entrusted to them for the good/betterment and benefit of the Republic/Commonwealth, aspirational, motivational and developmental, purposeful and true progressive leaders, seers, prophets – those with the divine capacity to see and envision tomorrow before it arrives, those obsessed with blueprints for national developments, those with the right compass/sat nav and having an encyclopaedic knowledge of life’s and national traffic light – the traffic light system leaders or rather, the servant-leaders, etc, etc?

AGAIN, WHERE ARE THE NATION’S OGBONGE MEN AND WOMEN – THE TYPE K.O. MBADIWE REFERRED TO AS “TIMBER AND CALIBER”?

But can Ndigbo again like in the past, give their country another or a greater than Zik, Mike Okpara, Alvan Ikoku, Sir Odumegwu Ojukwu, Victoria Nnamdi Azukiwe, Ebitu Okoh Ukiwe, who sacrificed his career, defending the nation’s secularism when Ibrahim Gbadamosi Babangida smuggled Nigeria through the back door and enlisted her in that DARKEST BLACKNESS CLUB, even the OIC in 1986, Godwin Ndubuisi Kanu, Achebe, Nwafor Orizu, Mbonu Ojike, K.O; Madame Nwanyeruwa, Ikonnia, Nwannedia, Nwugo, all of Aba Riot fame (1929); Ukpabi Asika, Kenneth Dike, Flora Nwakpa (nee Nwakuche), Chike Obi, Cyprian Ekwensi, M.C. Ajuluchukwu, C.C. Onoh, Ewin Ume Ezeoke, Victoria Johnson Agui-Ironsi, Sam Mbakwe and not the efulefus and mere fireflies presently causing human pollution by junketing round the place in the name of declaration, seeking endorsement and like Ayim Pius Ayim legalising violence by stooping so low before men of violence whose hands still drip blood to desecrate our land – all in the name of seeking nationwide endorsement, galivanting all over the place, doing the so-called consultation and collecting the so-called blessings!

So, where next shall APA be heading?

Lawrence Anini, Ishola Oyenusi, ‘Chemical’’s graves, of course!

APA can also go to the detentions in both Abuja and beg to be endorsed and afterwards collect blessings from those Luciferian insurrectionists – Kanu X, that Satan’s first son who imported EFULEFUISM  (to the hitherto land of a very hardworking people) – a sort of despicable indolence/laziness and worthlessness – manifesting in the so-called “sit-at-home”, culminating now in the looting of people’s properties, burning of fellow Ndigbo alive and opening prisons – killing, stealing, maiming, destroying , especially after having taken a good doze of mkpuru mmiri - that Satanic opium that has seized and now controlled the post-civil war generation of Ndigbo, plunging them into a state of intolerable stupor and sluggishness like the Biblical sluggard and turning them to mad dogs, who after eating Indian hemp (Marijuana) leaves began to ferociously attack their owners, and also, like the rainforest lions, now chasing, devouring and hacking innocent and hapless Ndigbo to their untimely death!

APA can then move from Kanu X to that Yoruba SO(A)KAWAY messiah in faraway Benin, Ibobo X (Igboho X) and then return therefrom to prostrate before Evans, the so-called multi-billionaire armed robber to get endorsed and blessings or collect same in a more expanded tommy of his; and there, move to the Kyari, the so-called super cop, and then take a flight to meet RUSHPUPPI (Hushpuppi) in the land of the Yankees for the self-same reason.

AYIM PIUS AYIM, PLEASE KNOW THYSELF

But how can a man who is oblivious of the African saying: KNOW THYSELF, which for centuries have been regarded as Socratic, be warming up to present himself before his party and thereafter, the Nigerian electorate to be voted for as the next occupant of that exalted office, reserved only for the exalted minds, come 2023?

Is this not a classical example of an ingrity presidential candidate IPC) - a sort of a ‘runaway fugitive’ desperately running away from the authorities of OTAPIAPIA LAND, and equally desperately seeking a refuge from whomsoever for mere headline’s sake could offer him a hiding place, albeit temporarily?

Methinks, every primary school pupil throughout the length and breadth of Nigeria will no doubt write a better and an excellent essay on AYIM PIUS AYIM, P De Boy/Pius De Boy/Ayim De Boy himself.

In a hereditary and quota system-orientated polity devoid of reliable competitive performance such as Nigeria’s, it is not unlikely that some of Brigadier-General Adeboye Obasanjo’s classmates/course mates are either still Captains and Majors or at best, Lt. Colonels, when he a privileged son of a member of the infamous Ruling House of Nigeria (IRHN) – the vermin, the mafia, the political predators, political cultists cum sanguinary and sadistic political pirates that have held our Nigeria by the jugular since the departure of the colonialists.

Unknown to many a Nigerian, promotion in the Nigerian military just like any other thing Nigerian, does not come from the Army/Military Board of Promotions, but from the palaces, the hill, mountain tops and such other kleptocratic and obscene mansions/castles thereon.

And this truism/reality was confirmed to me nearly three decades ago by one of the nation’s pre-eminent Generals of indisputable and unparalleled gallantry, even at the protestation of his very obsequious and very cowardly Military Assistant, then a Major and of the Yoruba ethnic nationality, who then asked this writer angrily thus: “Where from did you get this your type of question?

And switching off my two midget tape recorders during that very lengthy, exhaustive, and revelatory interview held in his Guest House in Kaduna, I confronted his eye-service and timid Military Assistant in the manner of a former Barracks boy thus: “If the General will not answer this my type of question, I consider this interview now terminated.”

But the General who was sitting on one end of the white posh sofa which both of us had sat into the deep of the night, looked up, and shaking his head with ball of tears in his eyes said to me: “My dear John, switch on your recorders. I will tell you everything, including the reasons why promotions from the military come from palaces.”

Those at the top have always dreaded my “type of questions” and I have no apologies for choosing to be daring and different as a journalist and as a writer.

One or two more examples:

After the June 12 Presidential election of 1993, especially whilst the nation was awaiting the results, I wrote an article at the time entitled: Stuttering and Waiting, followed by a major investigation aimed at unravelling the reason/s behind the delay of the PERs, and what the Ibrahim Gbadamosi Administration had up its sleeves which the Nigerian public was unaware of whilst the waiting was ongoing.

During this time, I was working as a Senior Correspondent at The Independent Weekly and that investigation took me weeks to complete. I was meeting with the people that mattered in the country and closed to Aso Rock.

In fact, some of these interviews in most cases, were held between my interviewees and I at night, considering the potential inherent danger of that investigation. These persons, pre-eminent in every respect amongst the Nigerian power elites and indeed very, very influential, were the ones who together with that so-called “evil genius”, IBB were hatching the plots as to how to stop the announcement of the results of that election and put a lid over it forever, with minimal crisis in and around the country, as they had fooled themselves, thinking the Nigerian people were fools like them.

After the completion of my investigations, I spent a whole night in the newsroom at Jakande Close, Off Adeniran Ogunsanya Road, Surulere, Lagos to write that special investigation which at the management and editorial meeting we had agreed three pages should be devoted to it. But the agents of the Government in the newsroom – the conspirators and anti-Nigerian elements butchered my report and reduced it to just three paragraphs because according to them, it was too sensitive and the government, they reckoned would arrest me to ask who was always sponsoring my kind of stories.

These conspirators and anti-Nigerian elements included: Tony Onyinma, my immediate editor and Head of the Features Desk, Bosah Iwobi, the editor of The Independent, Segun Akpata, the Managing Director, Isi Oyobisi, the Administration Manager, the Advert Manager, whose name I have forgotten and one Dr Onigbinde, a Columnist and an External member of the Editorial Board, then of the Department of Philosophy, Ogun State University, Ago-Iwonye.

On a Monday when I went to the newsroom to read the special investigation which I had slept in the office to write, I could not find my story, searching from the front page to the back of it and back to the front many times over!

Being seized with unprecedented anger, I was already turning from a normal, gentle human-Born Again Christian to a super-active, supra-sensitive, super-inflammable and super-eruptive human volcano both within and without.

The ‘wicked’ and ‘satanic’ state of combustibility that I was immediately plunged into for the disappearance of my JUNE 12 STORY as it was popularly known and referred to by all and sundry at Jakande Close, Surulere, the office of The Independent Weekly was tranquilized with the arrival of Julius Omokioja  Kwame Eto, a fellow conscientious and ultra-radical comrade of mine, one of the very, very few of my generation the Nigerian nation could boast of amongst the young people of my generation and trust very reliably at the time. Until very recently, Etostic, as I usually call him, was the Associate Editor of The Guardian.

As if he knew about the stomach/belly-quake in me was about to erupt outwardly with a molten lava sure to burn everybody within my anger-eruptive-combustibility vicinity/range, Eto beckoned to me as he entered the office: “John, come see wetin they do to your story, how they butcher am. The thing wey you sleep in the newsroom to write, including all the efforts you had put in carrying out the investigation.”

As he was pulling out his drawer, to bring out a copy of The Independent Weekly he had kept for me, he said, opening the page: “See wetin they do to ram, these Babangida boys wey we dey work with. They butcher am and reduce am to just three paragraphs! See wetin dem do. 1, 2, 3 – just three paragraphs!”

And not quite long, another colleague and mutual friend of ours, Femi Akorede, the Head of the Entertainment Desk arrived. As he entered the newsroom, he called out repeatedly without having dropped his bag: “John, John, you done see wetin they do to your June 12 Story? They cut am so tay, if you see am, you won’t know na your story wey you sleep in the office write!”

Femo, so I always called him said added: “When I see am, I said the people wey do this kind thing no know the type of person they are dealing with.”

In retrospect as we all kept saying, had that story been published, the nation might not have had nor experienced JUNE 12 with all the hydras that emanated therefrom, culminating in the tragic death of the principal protagonist of that tragic drama – the death of Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola, the presumed winner of that election whose scar will remain forever on the conscience of the nation and on the Nigerian people.

Lt. General M.B. Haladu whilst he and I were dissecting, analysing and discussing the June 12 saga, described it as a “watershed in our national life” and I countered immediately, saying to him: “June 12 was a fireshed in our national odyssey and not a “watershed.”

The annulment of that election, believed to be the freest in the history of democratic elections in postcolonial Nigeria plunged the nation into an unprecedented conflagration of immense proportion, *which negative impacts like a wicked ghost still haunts the nation till today, in addition to its ever-yawning, ever-opening and unhealed (scar) wound together with all the associated pains, anguish and sorrow that have persisted till the very present!

Its cancellation brought to our national political arena cum the nation’s seat of power such hydra-headed ferocious and mindless sickos/sickly (both mind and body) monsters like that *kleptomaniac, Sani Abacha, slimy and a pathological liar, Abdulsalami Abubakar, thieving pharisaichal Olusegun Obasanjo, just out of prison with $150, 000 gift from Bill Gate to him after he had been freed, and now he has become one of the richest/wealthiest peoples in the modern world plus a private Presidential Library which has defaced that hitherto very famous city beneath the rock – Abeokuta, now ABECORRPUTION, CITY OF CORRUPTION, CITY OF LOOTERS, sickly and pretentious Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, supra-clueless and profligate Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who is yet to face the Nigerian people and tell them about the outcome of the N6 billion he had extorted/duped the unsuspecting and very gullible Nigerian of, for the so-called OTUOKE CHURCH in the self-same manner Olusegun Obasanjo before him had defrauded states and others of their hard-earned money to build his OOPL which has undoubtedly defaced that CITY BENEATH THE ROCK – Wole Soyinka’s City/birthplace (Ake); nepotistic and supra-mindless, bloody, and sanguinary vampiric mujahid, Rehoboam Herod Muhammadu Buhari (RHMB).

Olusegun Obasanjo, hypocrite par excellence and ACHAN OF OWU used to openly call Colonel Raji Rasaki (rtd), formerly Military Governor of Lagos State: “Ole! Ole! Ajibo Ole (!) in public places – including at Murtala Muhammed Airport, but on reflection, will he now apologise to the Colonel?

Despite my supra eruptive state of mind, I had waited till evening when the conspirators began arriving in the office and were seated. Amongst the conspirators and the anti-Nigerian, anti-democracy, who were involved in that unNigerian loyalty that were present when I entered the office in which they were all seated were:

  1. Mr Bosah Iwobi (The editor).
  2. Mr Tony Onyima
  3. Mr Isi Oyobosi
  4. Dr Onigbinde
  5. The Advert Manager (I did not know his name even then and now).
  6. ***Mr Oluwasegun Akpata was at this time the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief, but he was not in the office that I had taken up the key members of his management team for killing my JUNE 12 STORY.
  7. Professor Ukandi Damachi was Ibrahim Babangida’s front as the publisher of The Independent Weekly, but he too was not in that gathering that evening of my confrontation with the anti-June 12 Gang at Jakande Close, Off Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria.

Turning to the editor in anger, I queried him thus: “Editor, wetin happen to my story?”

And Mr Iwobi said he read the story again and again, especially the introduction, but could not understand it because of its depth and profundity, and thereafter reasoned: “If I as the editor read the story and could not understand it, how then can the ordinary reader out there understand it?”

With a similar claim coming from each of the Management Team member present that evening as I was boiling beyond description, regarding their inability to decode and understand me, it looked they all no doubt had conspired and agreed they should give this sort of monkey excuse, knowing full well, I would ask for the reasons that story was not published in full, even though we had during the editorial meeting over it agreed to devote at least three pages to it because of the national and global importance of that investigation of mine.

One after the other they claimed after having read the story they were unable to understand it even as learned people, more so, journalists.

Mr Iwobi, called me: “ Come-o, John-o, what did you study?” Each claimed this was the question that was coursing through their mind they were reading it, adding they had said whenever they saw me they would ask, and then introduce me to Dr Onigbinde, who at this time, if my memory has not failed me was the Head of the Department of Philosophy, Ogun State University, so both of us could engage in intellectual debate as they all came to the conclusion that I studied Philosophy at Great Ife!

“The Advert Manager added: “Because of his very high level of intelligence I no dey engage am in a debate, because John go make you look stupid, marshalling his points – and e go be like you no go school. Whenever you are in a debate with him, he would take a flight to the sky, leaving you hanging! Una no notice whenever him dey debate, I go just keep quiet dey look am without contributing anything because I no want him to take me make ye ye as if I no go school.”

Dr Onigbinde asked if it was Philosophy I studied at the university as that was what came to his mind when he was reading the story under reference, adding my writings are usually philosophical and very profound.

Truth was, in my state of anger I did not reply to any of their questions, with Mr Iwobi adding a killer blow, a sort of insult upon injury. Said he: “If I publish that story, Gofment go say somebody was sponsoring you to write your kind of stories, and they will send people to come and arrest you and find out who dey sponsor your type of story.”

And turning to him, whilst still boiling with rage inwardly, I released a departing salvo: “Editor, ego good make we give others too, a fair hearing-o.”

I left the room, and there and then I was convinced beyond every shadow of the doubt that I was in a wrong place (newspaper house) and in a wrong circle with our views, philosophy, vision, and ideology diametrically opposed to one another!

With this and many other vexed issues, including the fact that I was working in a newspaper believed to be owned and funded by General Ibrahim Gbadamosi Babangida, that Minna bloody tyrant par excellence and the man who was to later annulled the June 12 Presidential election which that investigation of mine was meant to stop had it been published in full as I had learnt before every one of my colleagues and bosses about the plot to scuttle it from both pre-eminent Nigerians and from my external sources, both close to IBB’s Rock.

What was more embarrassing, I was to later learn too at this time that a kinsman of mine, Professor Ukandi Damachi, supposed the publisher of the paper was merely fronting for IBB as the ‘publisher’ of The Independent Weekly, so I had no choice, but to resign from The Independent Weekly afterwards with my letter of resignation titled: “IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO RUN, BUT TO RUN AND SUCCEED”!

Lest I forget, not long after IBB was chased out of office by the Nigerian people, I was approached by some people that I had been pencilled to be a pioneer management staff of a paper/magazine Mr Babangida was planning to debut with to be known and called HERITAGE, but I declined for reasons of conscience, integrity, national duty to the nation and in honour of  God, the Nigerian people, all persons of African ancestry (APAA) and posterity.

MY JUNE 12 INVESTIGATION…LOOKING BACK STILL IN ANGER

Had that investigation of mine been published, the Babangida junta and all the conspirators – Yoruba sons and daughters, including some Yoruba monarchs (Obas), the result of that election arguably might not have been cancelled and the nation would have been spared all the crises that arose kwenskwently, leading to the death of M.KO, again, whose ugly effects have continued till date, with the wounds refusing to heal completely, thus leaving a yawning chasm in our polity till date.

What is more, had that story been written at Rutam House, it was the type of investigation that would attract commendations from all the editors, the directors, colleagues, and other staff at The Guardian – and unarguably, won me another national honour and international accolades!

And because the conspirators and the anti-Nigerian elements above killed my JUNE 12 STORY, the nation was plunged into a near Armageddon of sorts, and JUNE 12 will remain perpetually a YAWNING CHASM and a scar on the conscience of the nation.

More, as the nation was aflamed then, it is still now, losing the national pivot on which the wheel of the Nigerian state does rotate, oozing forth such self-appointed, deluded and criminally ‘endorsed’ ‘messiahs’ like brutish and monstrous Abacha; lying Abdulsalami Abubakar (ANANIAS OF MINNA) - the fake man with the fake olive branch nation-trotting in the name of being a peacemaker, involving in crises management and resolutions; THE ACHAN OF OWU and the kleptocratic and self-righteous Olu Obasanjo (General 16B);  jihadi Umaru Musa Yar’Adua; that former shoeless boy and world most dirty profligate, who is yet to tell the nation what he did with the N6 billion OTUOKE CHURCH PROJECT (OCP) he had defrauded the nation of, and extorted from the unsuspecting state executives and the gullible Nigerian public just like the self-appointed messiah of all persons of African ancestry (APAA) - Olusegun Obasanjo, the chicken/mango seller the Old man on the hill, who gifted the Nigerian people the Nigerien DEAD HORSE - that Daura’s POISONOUS BROOD OF VIPER AND BLOOD SUCKING SANGUINARY VAMPIRE!

PICKING THE SQUEEZED PIECES OF MY JUNE 12 STORY FROM THE BIN…THE PRODUCTION EDITOR’S PATRIOTIC EFFORTS

“They put am inside the bin and I removed them, keep for you,” said the Production editor as he handed me some pages of my handwritten June 12 Story.

And about that story which these conspirators had killed, excepting the conspirators and the anti-Nigerian elements referenced, all the other Nigerians working with The Independent Weekly, Jakande Close, Off Adeniran Ogunsanya Street were genuinely concerned and very vexed, not least because they all knew I slept in the newsroom to write it as witnessed by all The Independent Weekly Production crew that I had to work with at night to get the story ready to go to press.

In fact, it was the Production Editor, who himself kept part of the story for me, and when I told him the pages were not complete, he went to the bin, where I in like manner followed him, and ransacking everywhere, we were able to pick some other parts of the handwritten sheets of my JUNE 12 STORY.

THE ‘SECRET AGENT’ AT THE NIGERIAN INSTITUTE OF JOURNALISM

Was the man really a student or an agent on errand for the Sani Abacha Administration? Was he sent to spy on the NIJ students as a whole or just my class or me in particular for my “type” of stories, the conspirators and the “treacherous prodigals” at Jakande Close said the Government would be saying somebody was sponsoring me to write “your type of stories”?

The man was of average height, probably 5” 6”, medium build, bushy black hair spiced with grey here and there, all around, well-trimmed moustache, a smoker and goro eater, always impeccably dressed, short sleeves atop well ironed pair of trousers, looked every inch a man whose ‘palm kernel’ had been cracked for him by the Nigerian system, as if he had never known hunger and hardship in his life with his glistering dark-skin that could reflect any interlocutors of his. Gentle-looking, looked quiet, taciturn, never contributed to discussions/discourses in the class nor any of our conversation whilst in the class, but was it because he was the eldest amongst us or just because he was a ‘spy’?

But again, why was the man at the NIJ?

To spy on the whole class or the whole of the NIJ or just me who had always exposed the powerful, the evils in high places and relayed same to the Nigerian people and the global public, including their thinking and perception.

I mean those at the top and at the corridors of power who dreaded my “type” of stories which they had always moaned and complained to some people, who in turn passed them to me, saying thus: “those at the top are not happy with you” or sometimes, “those at the top are not happy with your type of stories or rather point blank as in: “You are stepping on some toes” or “You are stepping on the toes of some people…very powerful people, you better watch it” or “You better be careful” and still, “You are stepping on the toes of some very powerful people in the country”, or “You are too young to die.”

But how many times have I not heard about these sort of perpetual moaning by the powerful, the strong, the mighty and the mindless oppressors – members of the ruling class/elite or should I say: RUINING CLASS – those very destructive locusts in the same manner I was told  back at College as a College and Campus journalist since my studentship days at Aladura Comprehensive High School, Anthony Village, Lagos, Nigeria and at Great Ife – the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Still, I’d like to ask again: WHO WAS THIS MAN?

One day whilst we were in the class, he invited me to follow him to the NIJ’s long balcony, holding my hand as we made our way to the balcony:

“My dear John,” said he to me, trying to get my attention. “I want to tell you something.”

And reasoned I inwardly, looking straight into his eyes, thinking of what it was, he was going to tell me, calling me out from the classroom to the balcony.

Resumed he: “I have listened to your conversations, argument and debate with our colleagues regarding our country, especially the topical issue at hand – June 12. Neither I nor anyone can doubt your passion, love, and patriotism for this country, but you have to be very careful.”

With his eyes fastened to mine, putting one of his legs through the space in between the railing and leaning slightly against it, he warned: “You are too young to die. I don’t want you to take unnecessary risk for some people in this country anymore. Did you not notice that the people for whose sakes you had been on the street, and had been stoutly defending very passionately and vehemently are outside the country enjoying themselves, so why must you risk your life for such cowards?”

A wry smile, then said: “I want to believe you have a family and you love them as they too do love you.”

The prevailing silence from both of us was now such that the sound of a needle falling from the ceiling could be heard.

Very calculating, strategic, wise, professional, he appeared gifted in speech making, and his accent gave him a way as Hausa, most probably. Marshalling his point, he spoke in a manner of an elder – very reflective and professional.

Adjusting himself and putting down the leg he had passed through the railing hole to replace it with another, he sighed and said: “That man you are fighting for, for the actualization of the June 12 Presidential Election results, where is he, probably to demonstrate how stupid he thought I was? I told you, you are too young to die.”

Noticing me heaving a sigh of relief, he requested of me rhetorically: “Can I tell you something again?” Asked he rhetorically.

Again resuming, he disclosed and confirmed what had earlier been told me by a pre-eminent legal luminary of Yoruba extraction, whom at this time I perceived he was acting as a double agent in the whole saga of June 12, even though he pretended to be on the side of the masses during the day on the pages of newspapers and on the streets!

In fact, this Yoruba lawyer now deceased himself told me during my interview with him late at night in his chambers regarding what IBB was up to in delaying the results in the first place that he was part of the June 12 troubadours to the Presidency. Truth, I was shocked he in particular was part of the traitors shouting for the actualization of the J12PERs in the day and calling for its annulment at night!

Said the secret agent: “Do you know that those who shouted the most during the day are on their bended knees asking for contracts in Aso Rock, and actively supporting the cancellation of the J12PERs? Those your so-called activists, academics, including even some Yoruba Obas?”

Exposing further the hypocrisy of some of these Nigerians spread across the country, he said: “They sit on the carpet on the floor at night, bowed and sometimes knelt before Mrs Maryam Abacha, pleading with her to tell her husband to give them contracts, included: some Yoruba Obas and emirs and other such.”

But is it not totally unAfrican that these monarchs should be sitting on the floor and kneeling down before an African housewife to ask for contracts from her husband through her?” Reasoned I.

“Certainly not when you are desperate for contracts”! the man replied.

Besides the Abachas, THE OIL WIND FALL BONANZA-SWALLOWER FOX OF MINNA, the world’s No.1 Annuler, did say he had recorded videos of these double-faced and treacherous Nigerians, when then is he going to release those videos to the Nigerian people and the world to name and shame these “wretched prodigals”?

“Even though I was already aware of the double role some of the Yoruba Obas were playing regarding the actualization or otherwise of the J12 Presidential Election results, I yet went ahead to ask him as if I did not know about this already?

“Did you mean the Yoruba Obas?”

“Yes, there were some Yoruba Obas with us in Abuja saying a different thing just to get contracts!”

Still feigning ignorance about my awareness of the double standards* of these Yoruba Obas, I again asked: “But M.K.O is their son, their kinsman and brother, so they should be fighting for him and not teaming up with his enemies and the enemies of all Yoruba to undo his efforts and those of the Nigerian people?”

He chuckled, held my hand, and laughed: Ha ha! Can you see what I meant when I said you should not risk your life for anybody, and that you are too young to die?”

There and then introduced himself…. A top notch in the nation’s Secret Service with a base in Abuja who was right at the centre of the story – the whole saga of June 12 in the Presidency!

Noticing how stunned and petrified I was, he held my hands again, just as he had held me earlier, requesting me to follow him to the balcony because he had something to tell me; and this time round, we both went back to the class.

Wallahi, after that conversation, I never set my eyes on him at NIJ again until we finished our exams in 1994!

JUNE 12: NATIONAL UNITY, COHESION, INTEGRATION AND HOW THE NATION GOT HERSELF OUT OF THE QUAGMIRE

Appeasement & Compensation

How did the nation get herself out of the June 12 mess?

The Yorubas were appeased by IBB having Ernest Adegunle Shonekan transitioned from the Head of the Transition National Council and Head of Government of the Federation of Nigeria (2 January 1993 – 26 August 1993 ) to the Head of the Interim National Government (26 August 1993 – 17 November 1993) whilst there was fire on the mountain, the  heat of which was burning very fiercely on Ibrahim Gbadamosi Babangida and his family, culminating in the RUN, RUN BATTLE, in which the COWARD OF MINNA (COM) cowardly announced his frightful and historical “step aside” on August 26, 1993.

Also, the Yorubas were appeased with the then two parties – Peoples  Democratic Party (PDP) and the Alliance for Democracy/All People’s Party, both unusually in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual polity, fielding  two descendants of Oduduwa of the Yoruba ethnic nationality – Olusegun Obasanjo, an ex-convict and that unrepentant Chief priest of the infamous Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP), Samuel Oluyemisi Falae (SOF), with Olu Obasanjo of the PDP winning in 1999, and subsequently assumed office in that year as the civilian President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

And in 2007, restive North (power-hungry, power-loving Fulani, Hausa, Kanuri, Shuwa Arabs and by extension, the Middle Eastern Arabs, having the worst influence in Nigerian politics, were too appeased and compensated as the nation was beginning to experience the hydra-headed monsters, sharia was already spewing out with Umaru Musa Yar’Adua taking over from the mango seller of Abeokuta, Matio Aremu Okikiola Olusegun Obasanjo (M(A)OOO), the world’s No.1 CHICKEN SELLER. Abi na Mango seller e be?

Abi person na JESUSBOYE/CHRISTIBOYE/RAPTUREBOYE or OGUNBOYE?

Like the eyes of the crab which as soon as one is pressed down, the other rises, the nation’s festering CHAHOS (chaos/crises) which had been jumping from one POLIGEOZONE or GEOPOLIZONE to another arose and landed in the Niger Delta, Nigeria’s natural boiling caldron, making the Niger Delta, bursting into intractable flames and began to boil and boil, burn, burn and burn!

And they too in the nation’s unfathomable wisdom, were appeased and compensated like the Yorubas, the Fulanis, the Hausas, the Kanuris, the Shuwa Arabs and the Arab world were compensated with Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, that once shoeless and poverty-stricken Otuokean of course, but now a multi-billionaire!

GEJ’S SECOND COMING? GOOD LUCK TO GOODLUCK!

Ha! Ha!

We hear the power-lust/hungry Gamjites are plotting his come back to power in 2023 as this writer had predicted years back!

Well, make the DINDIRI OF NIGERIAN POLITICS come to collect him Ijaw hat wey him leave behind at the UNITY HOUSE.

GEJ does not understand; he does not understand generally speaking nor as we tell am tay, tay, does he understand the A, B, C of Nigerian politics.

Anyway, we wish am well and we wish Goodluck good luck!

And calling the Nigerian people, the world and posterity as witnesses, all this writer can say is that in all history, no prophet ever delivers the same message to the same person twice.

A word should be enough even for the very simple-minded and the gullible.

2023: CRY, THE BELOVED NDIGBO, CRY!

Towards Total National Unity, Cohesion & Integration in a highly Inflammable, Super-Active, Supra-Combustible, Super-Sensitive and Super-Eruptive Polity

But how does the nation hope to resolve her current raging conflagration from the East, having found herself now in a messier mess than any above-referenced – choose to be stupid or choose to be wise again, in her characteristic generosity and traditional quest for justice, fairness, peace that surpasses all understanding and an unparalleled universal altruism based on the GOLDEN RULE and Rotary’s 4-Way tests, especially as it concerns Ndigbo, the nation’s South eastern POLIGEOZONE, now hollering to secede once again and burning, burning with unspeakable Armageddonic inferno?

TOWARD EQUALITY AND BALANCE OF POWER WITHIN THE NIGERIAN SYSTEM

In trying to resolve the June 12 imbroglio, the nation in between 1993 and 1999 through to 2007, the Yorubas got a double portion in Ernest Adegunle Shonekan and Matio Okikiola Aremu Olusegun Obasanjo, so, why cannot the Nigerian people do for Ndigbo as they have done in recent times to all the referenced ethnic nationalities and Poligeozones within the Nigerian Federation?

  • Are Ndigbo not human beings and compatriots?
  • Are Ndigbo not citizens and Nigerians?
  • Are Ndigbo not men and women, therefore, brothers and sisters.
  • Behold a people more sinned against than sinning!
  • And now is the time to address this age-long wrongs, using the JANT FORMULAE!

2023: WILL THE YORUBAS STAND BY NDIGBO OR DISAPPOINT THEM AGAIN?

The seeming bad blood between Ndigbo and the Yorubas is because the former felt in the past, they had been disappointed and subsequently abandoned by the latter, especially during the civil war.

But when in 1993 a time came for Ndigbo to avenge the Yorubas during the June 12 crisis, Ndigbo were very solid in standing on the side of God, natural justice, history, and posterity in their unwavering support for the Yorubas in their clamour and quest for the actualization of the June 12 PERs.

And who will forget that genuine solidarity of (theirs) shown to the Yorubas by Ndigbo as demonstrated, especially by two illustrious sons of Ndigbo – Godwin Ndubuisi Kanu and Ebitu Okoh Ukiwe?

So are we then to record for posterity that the Yorubas made good the saying: “one good turn deserves another” by their enthusiastic support for N2023PP or to write dismissively and derisively that AMOTEKUN can never change its spots/stripes nor its colours, no matter what?

Whilst I consult with the highest heavens and labour in prayer for the nation, it will be interesting whether all the registered political parties and the Nigerian people will choose to apply the rotary’s 4-Wat test and the wisdom of Aesop as below or act otherwise and perish like fools not via the doctrine of necessity, but by the Doctrine of Nigerianistic Equality:

Concerning the way, the political parties in Nigeria together with the Nigerian people think, say, and do things, especially in relation to their dealings with Ndigbo:

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

And summing up this series of my treaties on N-2023, I invite my fellow Nigerians to ruminate on the wisdom of Aesop as below:

The Lion, the Ass, and the Fox went hunting together, and it was agreed that whatever was taken should be shared between them. They caught a large fat Stag, which the Lion ordered the Ass to divide. The Ass took a deal of pains to divide the Stag into three pieces, which should be as nearly equal as possible. The Lion, enraged with him for what he considered a want of proper respect to his quality, flew upon him and tore him to pieces. He then called on the Fox to divide. The Fox, nibbling off a small portion for himself, left the rest for the Lion’s share. The Lion, highly pleased with this mark of respect, asked the Fox where he had learned such politeness and good-breeding. “To tell the truth, Sire,” replied the Fox, “I was taught it by the Ass that lies dead there.”

AGAIN, NIGERIAN PRESIDENT OF IGBO EXTRACTION AS A DEUS EX MACHINA IN THE RESOLUTION OF THE NIGERIAN ‘TRAGI-PITEOUS DRAMA’

Restoring Order, Justice, Fair play, Universal Altruism, Peace, Sanity and Decency within the Nation’s Body Politics

Little children, choose this national admonition of mine and have your country, even your Nigeria intact, or act otherwise, and lose not only OUR NIGERIA, but the political kingdom of Nigeria, and by so doing, imperil the fate of the peoples of African descent (PAD – PADIANS) on the planet earth.

Again, a word is enough even for the most simple-minded.

A DISSECTION OF GLOBAL YOUTH VIOLENCE & ZERO YOUTH MORALITY

BLURB

Why does one youngster stab another with a knife which they will never, ever dare to stab themselves with? Why are our young people killing themselves without thinking of the pains and sorrow such barbarism and bestiality will leave their loved ones with for the rest of their lives? Why do some young persons - members of the same community prey on one another with such jungle-like ferocity in the nation’s cities? Why, why are there now so many of such gruesome, purposeless, wicked and unwarranted killings in the nation’s cities as if Britain is now a land that devours its children? More worrisome is the fact that when they are hacked to death so young, what happens to their dreams, visions, goals and aspirations?

Heart-rending as these painful questions are, Be A Beacon of Hope in the World: A Message to Young Britain does not attempt to offer answers to these puzzles arising from the untimely deaths of Britain’s children through knifings. However, it seeks to act as a guidepost, compass and a Sat Nav to point young persons in the direction of the good way and on the path of civility, decency, common sense, humaneness and universal altruism, whereupon they are expected to have respect, first for themselves, for others and for all of life’s forms. Therefore, let the alarm bell which this book has triggered off to warn all young persons in Britain and the world over that to live in the fast lane is to die young, reverberate through the vista of time.
