"Discretion, rather than rigidity to untested economic policies, is the hallmark of intelligent economic managers. Such tested economic managers are very few in the present federal government set-up." - Professor Sam Adepoju Aluko (1929-2012) in FEDERAL GOVERNMENT REFORM AGENDA AND THE NIGERIAN ECONOMY: 1999-2007: A CRITICAL ASSESSMENT.

Buhari: The Boa Constrictor of Nigeria

Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria: The sad tale of a President who could not do budget...he's on the express way with his over 180 million passengers, but can't CHANGE gear as the national bus heads down a dangerous precipice soon to plunge into a bottomless valley, having no driving licence! This globe-trotting and approval-seeking President is simply gambling with the lives of  Nigerians...in  a sort of blind man's game, or what do you think?

WHAT NEXT?

IMMEDIATE IMPEACHMENT

THE BOA OF NIGERIA NEVER SHOWS RESPECT FOR CONSTITUTED AUTHORITIES, BUT WOULD LIKE TO CONSTRICT OTHERS FOR FAILING TO OBEY CONSTITUTED AUTHORITIES AS PRESIDED OVER BY HIM!

Respect for constituted Authorities...Never: He was part of the counter-coup gang of July 28, 1966; part of the  ignominious gang that murdered over 700 defenceless civilians in October 1967 in what has become known ever since as ASABA MASSACRE; failed to account for the US$2.8 billion missing oil money since 1978 till date; disobeyed a sitting President over Nigeria v Chad crisis; truncated a democratically elected Government on December 31, 1983; refused to appear before the Oputa Panel; failed to account for the monkey tricks at the Petroleum Trust Fund under him in which Afri - Project Consortium owned by an associate of his could not account for N25, 738, 532, 448 till the very present and his legendary disobedience for court orders is unparalleled in the history of governance. In his very warped world view, only he can set up a Tribunal of Inquiry and summon others to appear before such a tribunal, but the ones set up by others to scrutinise and make him to account for his services to the nation are merely a wasted effort as Mr Muhammadu Buhari considers himself a saint, hence above board!

GENERAL COMMENTS AND OBSERVATION

Not a team player; not a people's person; not proactive; always confused; lacks the slightest economic sense, hence he introduced MALLAMNOMICS AND FREEBIENOMICS (see all, eat everything in one day, finish all in one day, a sort of locust-like philosophy of not saving for the rainy day, eating tomorrow/the future today - cultural profligacy) into the governance of Nigeria; too lazy and sluggish as to merit to be appropriately termed THE SLUGGARD OF NIGERIAN POLITICS; inability to coordinate; inability to delegate; always tyrannical; despotic, dictatorial; hence unable to practise democracy and play by the rule of law - usually prefers militarised/commandeered/garrisoned/guided/teleguided/moderated/controlled/pupetted/marionetted rule of law; generally arrogant and a supra snub; disdainful of Southerners whom he usually considers as second class citizens; hates the Nigerian press with unimaginable hatred, an attitude which informed him and his late alter-ego General Tunde Idiagbon to send the then doyen of Nigerian journalism Dr Isma'il Babatunde Jose to London to solicit good press from the British and by extension, the Western Media (General Idiagbon had begged: WE NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE TO MAKE CONTACT WITH YOUR FRIENDS IN THE  BRITISH PRESS...); suffers from conginital nepotism which has remained undiagnosable, hence incurable.

JUDGEMENT OF HISTORY & POSTERITY

Baba Daura is a nepotist of the worst type, unashamedly favouring his part of the country, a taskmaster par excellence; not mature and not in any least way willing to mature and not enthusiastically inclined to ever mature beyond 1985; has hidden agenda. Generally  perceived and known to be an unrepentant bigot, islamist, mujahid, sunnis/wahabi/salafist; an arewaite, gamjist; regionalist; supra ethnicist out to islamise Nigeria.

Nigeria, and indeed, Nigerians are not safe in his hands - he is king Rehoboam who like a scorpion has come to sting and eventually divide Nigeria and Nigeria will continue to witness increased and pervasive insecurity under his reign such as will threaten her corporate existence - Nigerians did not get him in his inaugural speech when he exhumed the bloody and jihadi exploit of blood-thirsty Uthman Dan Fodio and later claiming kindred/kinship to Niger, Chad and Northern Cameroon - could surreptitiously be dreaming of a Chad Basin Republic (CBR) as was done in the days of arrogant Ahmadu Bello. Truth is, bigot Muhammadu Buhari is an agent of darkness who has come to grieve Nigeria and not to bring about any change and peace. In fact, his first name is SORROW, his midddle name is PAIN and his surname is WAHALA!

He's generally not an enthusiastic person - not enthusiastic about governance, he has not come to govern Nigeria as one country, one people and as one indissoluble union - everything about him thus far, has confirmed the fact that Buhari has come to put a sword on the thing that holds us together as can be seen in the current heightened increase of "sharia creep" and actual jihadism - Muhammadu Buhari cannot ensure balance and fairplay in the polity - he lacks initiatives, actual ideas and native wisdom. Muhammadu Buhari is not fit for purpose - does not have the needed credentials, what's more, the 'licence' to govern Nigeria. Buhari is dangerous for Nigeria, and more dangerous for the peace of Nigeria.

He's an ultra conservative jihadist of the deadly salafist mould, always passsing the buck, after nearly nine months, Jonathan still to him, is the cause of everything wrong in his government and party - the Association of Political Criminals (APC) or in another words, ASSOCIATION OF PROSTITUTED CALAMITIES (APC) as well as in Nigeria; Calamity Buhari has never taken responsibility for anything - every time other people are responsible for all that go bad/wrong in and around him - a neocolonialist of the brand that James Robertson would gladly cuddle and embrace. He will never do anything without consulting his bosses in the West who already see him as not just a liability for Nigerians, but to them as well, hence they are withdrawing from him - and the East is where he has turned to and THE BLACKNESS OF DARKNESS AWAITS OUR NIGERIA under this our KING REHOBOAM who now goes East, yet OUR NIGERIA WILL PREVAIL OVER THE BLACKNESS OF DARKNESS whose deep has crept on the nation. And the good news is that this darkness will not overcome us, our nation and the unborn generations of Nigerians. Were Muhammadu Buhari to be on a supermarket shelf, he would not have the label REDUCED, but PRODUCT RECALL!

Mr Buhari came back to office after a wasted 30 years out of office without a vision, without a goal, without a mission, without a mission statement and without a road map. In fact, he is the ego-maniac ruler without a purpose, without "know how and activity knowledge", without a conscience, without human feeling and without fellow-feelings. He will fail because he spent 30 years after being chased out of  office in an ignominious manner as Head of State without dreaming, but merely hallucinating about returning to power to perfect his wickedness and vengeance against his foes, both perceived and real; 30 years without writing down the vision so that those who read it may run with it - alas, in his own case, there's nothing whatsoever anyone will read. What is worse, there's nothing from him anybody in this generation or in the coming generations will run with.

Buhari will leave office in shame, very bruised, in tatters, hollow and with wounds everywhere and his administration will be regarded as the worst and the most corrupt in the history of Nigeria - and because Mr Buhari is not fighting corruption, but doing revenge probe (RP), I can confirm from MY OBSERVATORY that he sure is kicking against the goads!

As I recline on a sofa in my OBSERVATORY reading WINNERS: AND HOW THEY SUCCEED by ALASTAIR CAMPBELLwith Joseph Stiglitz's GLOBALIZATION AND ITS DISCONTENTS by my left foot, and by my right, James Boswell's 1,492-page Life of Johnson (Samuel Johnson), whilst across my laps is Adam Smith's An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations  with Fabian Thinkers, Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr. and Nkrumah watching me, I invite  Nigerians and indeed,  all conscientious humanity to watch OUR OWN  Francesco Schettino how he scampers away as OUR OWN 'Costa Concordia' capsizes off the Niger!

NIGERIA'S PREEMINENT ECONOMISTS OF BYGONE ERA AND KEMI ADEOSUN, THE FRAGRANCECONOMIST

THE MORAL AND CONSCIENTIOUS ECONOMIST

Dr Pius Nwabufo Okigbo (1924-2000),  a preeminent economist of the first rating, not just ranked amongst the very best world wide in his generation, but first amongst equals. He was chairman of the 1994 Panel of Inquiry into the affairs of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He boldly and ferociously indicted  the very profligate Ibrahim Babangida administration on the Gulf  war oil windfall of  $12.4 billion which has remained unaccounted  for till date. Shouldn't a Buhari go chasing IBB for this, and himself, for the unaccounted for $2.8 billion oil money which he Muhammadu Buhari, now playing saint and a holy potentate has not told Nigerians the whereabouts of that money baggaged in a plane to Uganda and later traced to his private Midland Bank Account (now HSBC Bank) in the United Kingdom since the 70s?

STRATEGIC PRAGMATISM

THE WISDOM, FORESIGHT AND INSIGHT OF SAM ALUKO WERE IGNORED FORTY-SIX YEARS AGO BY A PROFLICATE, CARE-FREE AND STIFF-NECKED NATION LIKE NIGERIA AND ALL HE HAD PREDICTED ARE NOW BEFORE OUR VERY EYES AND THE CURRENT GOOD-FOR-NOTHING ECONOMIC MANAGERS OF THE COUNTRY JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE THE ANSWERS, HENCE THEY RUN TO THOSE WHO DO NOT WISH US WELL TO DO A SOVEREIGN NATION'S BUDGET. SHAME! SHAME!! SHAME!!!

"Industrialization...the transformation of crude commodities into refined and sophisticated products...the lesson for a country like Nigeria which wants not only to modernize but also to industrialize is clear...A modern, widespread and variegated educational system, far from being a luxury is more of a necessary cost which must be incurred if progress is to come about...For, ignorance begets poverty while knowledge begets wealth...First, is the degree of adaptation of the labour force to industrial discipline, both of which are functions of the existing level of literary and technical skill...

Secondly, the readiness with which entrepreneurs and national leaders use, and enjoy the use of the new machines; how willing they are to study the new machines and reproduce them and their spare parts locally, in the same way as the Japanese did in the late 19th and early 20th  centuries, how able and willing is the population to take over the techniques already employed elsewhere and start to produce the major goods that are hitherto imported  for the home market, even if the period of absorption of the techniques will be long...It is impossible, however for industries to become widespread and grow until there is a reliable and efficient system of electrification throughout the country, the provision of an efficient network of modern  roads, railways, water and ocean transport and efficient system of postal and  telephone services...The state can further assist private and public industrial efforts through fiscal favours, assignment of labour, patents or exclusive sales privileges, guarantees of industrial raw materials, technological advice, loans at low interest or no interest rates at all, outright subsidies or some combination of all these...It is a fact that as long as so large a portion of the labour force, as exist in Nigeria at present, is concentrated in the low producing agricultural sector, for so long will it be difficult to expand the demand for industrial and commercial goods and squeeze savings and taxes out of the population...we must reject the appellation  that our country is essentially an agricultural one and that our major development effort should be concentrated in agriculture; it is an appellation of doom, of inferiority nexus, of hewers of wood and drawers of water, designed to continue to satisfy the needs of European and American industrial expansionism while we retrograde...unless we take measures that will prepare us for a technological and industrial revolution, before too long, the Nigerians of the 21st Century will become much  more inferior to the 21st Century inhabitants of Europe, America, Japan and Oceania than our forefathers were to their imperial masters in Europe in the eighteenth, nineteenth and early twentieth centuries."  - Prof. Sam Aluko, an extract from his THE CASE FOR RAPID INDUSTRIALISATION IN NIGERIA, in the Quarterly Journal of ADMINISTRATION, published by The Institute of Administration, University of Ife, April 1970.

VOICE OF URGENCY...999!

Jeremiah Oyeniyi Obafemi Awolowo (1909-1987), Nigeria's Federal Commissioner for Finance, 1967-1971. The economic valley which purposelessness, lack of vision, foresight and creativity of the Nigerian leadership over the year have plunged her into requires creative, frugal, develoment and philosopher-economists cast in the moulds of an Okigbo, Aluko and Awo to get her out of it, and certainly not a fragranceconomics green horn like Kemi Adeosun, as she is a complete waste of time in that exalted office for which she is not cut out and prepared - grossly incompetent in every sense of the word - and the sooner she packs her make-up boxes and gets out of that office in which she is a complete misfit, the better for Nigerians, the world and posterity. The President MUST hang his head in shame for spending six months looking for a capable economic manager only to end up shaming the nation by appointing as his economic minister a person that cannot do budget. Are we ever going to do things, appoint people based on competitive performance, or continue to TABAGO (take a bow and go) silly, idiotic, corrupt-ridden, very useless and grossly incompetent people into public offices because of their places of birth, families and geo-political zones?

PROFILE IN MISFIT AND GROSS INCOMPETENCE

Kemi Adeosun, Nigeria's Finance Minister who could  not do budget until Christine Lagarde whom I shall unapologetically term as NIGERIA'S DANGEROUS OUTSIDER FINANCE MINISTER (NDOFIM) was called upon to help her and the shameless Nigerian Government out because they  simply did not know what a budget was all about. Kemi is merely a Fragranceconomist and a product of hereditary privilege in a nation, where appointments to strategic public offices are not based on  merit, but on how well connected one is. But in these times when the Nigerian State is in a state of ECONOMIC EMERGENCY, oughtn't appointments to sensitive and strategic public offices be based on competitive performance rather than hereditary privilege? Muhammadu Buhari must study closely the pictures of the economic giants above and ask himself a very searching and reflective question: Do I need to keep this girl for a second as someone who will help me get the nation out of her present economic and social predicaments? But where are the Okigbos, the Alukos and the Awos Nigeria once boasted of? A sole trader with a simple sense would not have engaged  this very woman  to do their tax return! But where, where, where I cry out will my country find "intelligent economic managers" which Professor Aluko spoke about at this time of economic exigency to help her out?

THE "FIERCE URGENCY OF NOW" AND THE CRITICAL STATE OF THE ECONOMY: AN SOS AND A SAVE OUR COUNTRY ALARM TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, MUHAMMADU BUHARI TO DECLARE A STATE OF EMERGENCY ON THE ECONOMY SECTOR

The deep-long and dreadful night everybody had feared since the discovery of oil at Oloibiri in 1956 has finally crept upon us and the nation is now in such a time  described by Martin Luther King Jr. as the "Fierce Urgency of Now" that requires a drastic action and solutions! And any delay in this blackness of darkness such as we are in now, is not only very dangerous, but will lead to the capsizing of the ship of  State in the  deep-bottomless ocean.  Mournfully, whilst the ship of  State buffets against the intractable tide of the deep ocean, the grossly irresponsible captain is gallivanting the world and seeking approval from the captains of other nations whose ships too are wobbling in the face of the current global economic storm.

Lamentably, the captain's assistant, ever since he found his way to the driving seat as the  second in command of the SHIP NIGERIANUS has been behaving like an irresponsible soldier at a mammy market in an army barracks who always have to get himself sozzled up with obrukutu (BKT) and afterwards begins to verbalize nonsense as a medium speaking in tongues. In the  midst of this  precariousness, the ship's economic managers are running around the town hall like a headless chicken 'flapping' their 'wings' and fighting by the book of statistics.

The inexperience and unpreparedness  of these agberos (touts) is such that they really don't know what is afoot generally and globally, talkless of knowing what to do or having an iota of solution to the buffeting ship in the merciless hand of the uncooperative elements of the sea, reasoning erroneously as they interprete the  elements to be the direct consequence of the inter-play of market forces, whilst stupidly ignoring the high wire politics from the East, West and Eastern Europe.

It is in this respect that a voice crying from the Diaspora urges the captain of the ship to return quickly to the ship and steer it safely ashore for all of the over 180 million passengers to berth safely unannoyed by the elements, instead of behaving like the grossly irresponsible Francesco Schettino of the ill-fated Costa Concordia.

Signed: THE VOICE OF ONE...
