Governor Gandu receive a plaque from the Naval Chief

Scorpion has learnt the Nigerian Navy are to site a Base in the land of Bayajida, but the questions to which conscientious Nigerian are looking for answers are: another Federal Character madness and folly? And will this be good value for money? Only time will tell.

In order to facilitate the collaboration, the College has requested that the newly approved Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Development Institute (AMEDI), Lafia, Nasarawa State by President Muhammadu Buhari may commence from the college, as it would enable the students to research more in areas of Agriculture that would benefit the state and Nigeria at large.

Speaking while on a visit with his management team to NASENI, the Provost of the College, Dr. Musa Yahaya Maikafi, said that aside from asking for a digital computer numerically controlled (CNC) lathe machine, the college had earlier requested from NASENI the strengthening of relationship with the Agency, especially in training, capacity building and research to provide manpower and services to Nasarawa State and Nigeria.

According to him, “We earlier requested for digitalized CNC Lathe Machine for the college and NASENI responded by sending a delegation to the school to inspect our facilities and had also granted our request. So we decided to pay a visit to the Agency to make the relationship stronger and find possible areas of collaboration in areas of research and development in modern agricultural tools and the training of our students.

“The world is today running on ICT, so we need to carry our students along, train and educate them on the importance of science and technology. We have identified NASENI as an Agency we can work with for technical and engineering training for our students” he said.

While congratulating the Agency for the new agricultural institute in the state, the Provost solicited that the EVC/CE use his good office to ensure that the institute commenced operations from the college as it would help to develop the students, the state and Nigeria at large.

The Provost also asked the EVC/CE to assist the college in getting the subjects for its Training and Vocational Center accredited and recognized by TETFUND as it would not only benefit the students in the school but also the development of their science, engineering and innovation pursuit.

Responding, the Executive Vice chairman/ Chief Executive of NASENI, Engr. Prof. Mohammed Sani Haruna said that the mission and request by the college to the Agency were within the mandate of NASENI, adding that the Agency was supporting the development of science, technology and innovation in the country as “it is the solution to everything in the world”

He noted that additional 12 institutes had been approved by the President in 12 states of the federation aside each of the six geo-political zones having Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Development Institute each, adding that Lafia was lucky to have the Institute designated for the zone.

Prof. Haruna promised that NASENI would work with the college once the areas of collaboration were identified.

The 9/11 Attacks: Understanding Al-Qaeda and the Domestic Fall-Out from America's Secret WarWith American military personnel now entering service who were not even alive on 9/11, this seems an appropriate time to reexamine the events of September 11, 2001 – the opaque motives for the attacks, the equally opaque motives for the counter-offensive by the United States and its allies known as the Global War on Terror, and the domestic fall-out for Americans concerned about the erosion of their civil liberties on the homefront.

(PART 19): Porous borders and national security in times of national emergency and unparalleled adversity.

Although this espousal has come with various titles, it is basically the same ‘one’ and ‘toro’!

Since July 13, 2020 when the 11th espousal on the current Nigerian tragedy, particularly the grave threat to national security, the looming famine beyond Biblical proportion, population explosion, intractable flooding, plight of the IDPs, the tragedy that is the children of Allah (the Almajirai), rape, youth violence, the danger of having kingdoms in kingdoms, terrorism, etc, JOHN ODEY ADUMA has been hibernating and incubating for ideas at his incubation/philosophical laboratory, and the result of that withdrawal from the crowd in search of the deeper things and meanings of life is what will be cascading from his intellectual Niagara Falls, and you would do well to enmesh/soak/saturate yourself in the falls.

And worried by the current state of reportage in the nations of the world, particularly in Nigeria, totally lacking in depth and investigation coupled with the usual resort and retreat to kinship or clannish journalism, the non-existent anonymous “authoritative source/s”, Aduma, whilst at the Daily Times of Nigeria Plc as its Editorial Board Chairman, had had to intervene to refocus the dumbing down of professionalism by propounding a theory he had then called Pyramidal or Tripodal or Triangular Criticism or Analysis, and in this series, you are going to read his latest media theories – The John Aduma Newsroom Boxes, the Dodecagonium; including political theories such as OMU, Nigerianistic Equality for the self-same reason, aimed at journalistic excellence and international best practice and in the furtherance of his vision of Nigerianism, Nigeriatopia and Nigerian exceptionalism.

You are, therefore, welcome to read, drink, soak yourself therein, debate, dissect and analyse, chew it, swallow it up, and become wiser and reflective, but you are not to plagiarise, copy and paste to claim its ownership, nor regurgitate it, nor lift up ideas from this treatise, interview your usual captive interviewees and turn round to attribute my ideas to them, giving the global audience the wrong impression that these ideas of mine were those of these your captive interviewees. You should therefore give credit to the author if you must refer to, quote from it or you are fascinated by any word, phrase/s or idea, and failing will this time round lead to litigation.

As a teenager at Aladura Comprehensive High School, Anthony Village, Lagos, the age that the G-IBB have chosen to join cultism and youth gang, it was Aduma’s dream to propound theories, be the most quoted intellectual on the planet earth and the greatest theorist and philosopher ever. And regarding that boyish dream, he is today widely quoted in academic journals and scholarly theses across the globe.

No doubt, you are already salivating and don’t want any further ‘traffic’ from the author on your way to his fountain of wisdom and knowledge, but before you are set loose, Mr Aduma ‘d like to ask you these questions: what is your dream?

Just what are your life’s dreams and goals?

Happy reading!

Preamble:

At the risk of painting a gloomy picture, I dare submit that the tempo of social tension, political entropy, armed conflict, wanton bloodletting, ungoverned spaces, and the centrifugal forces at play in Nigeria is to say the least, ramping up every day and very disturbing. Not to be outdone, Nigeria is increasingly ticking all the right boxes of a fragile state and upping the misery index. To be sure, Nigeria increased from 94.4 index in 2006 to 97.27 index in 2020. Lest I forget, it's not all gloomy, Nigeria constructed a $1.95 billion railway from Kano state into Maradi, Niger Republic. Nigeria's Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi confirmed that he personally begged the Republic of Niger to allow Nigeria to link them with the railway. Moving on…Aforesaid upshots in Nigeria are fueled by widening gap in social cohesion, entrenched marginalization, patent nepotism, corruption, inequality, injustice, uncurbed proliferation of small arms and light weapons (SALW) and attendant quest for the Balkanization of the country by sundry self-determination groups. In the southwest, the herdsmen-farmers miasma has been heightened by a blustering quest for Oduduwa Republic championed by Chief Sunday Adeyemo (aka Sunday Igboho), his enfant terrible spokesman, Mr. Olayomi Koiki et al. As part of efforts to actualize Oduduwa Republic, agitators recently launched a security outfit - Oduduwa Nation Security Force, code-named “Operation Paramole’’ in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. Some stakeholders and analysts say the ongoing violence in Nigeria is a preamble to the 2023 general election. Thrown into the mix is a disturbing trend in non-state actors brazenly attacking police officers, government security agents and carting away their weapons. No part of the country is off-limits to criminal activities. Abuja, the capital of Nigeria is been encircled by bandits, and tenably Boko Haram elements. Premium Times reports that Pegi community in Kuje area council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, is fast becoming a kidnapper’s den despite housing two government security facilities - the Navy and the police. Community leaders say at least 30 persons had been kidnapped in the area in the last two years and about N50 million paid as ransom. Writing in his column – Pendulum - on THISDAY Newspaper, Dele Momodu’s essay titled, ‘Who Shall Tell the President Nigeria is Dying?’ captures events playing out in Nigeria. In the words of Momodu, ‘’The symptoms of a failed nation are just too palpable to be missed or ignored by a reasonable people. If nobody has yet told the President, then he must hear this somehow. Our security situation is more than dire and grim. It is now catastrophic. Nigerians are now being killed, kidnapped and raped in places that used to know only peace’’. Ironically, while the United Kingdom expresses grave concern over what it described as the ‘deteriorating security situation in Nigeria’, President Buhari is vested, promises helping Niger Republic, and other neighbouring countries to rein in terrorism, insecurity.
