Etung Stakeholders Endorse Gov. Otu at New Year Engagement Featured

The leadership and stakeholders of Etung Local Government Area have unanimously reaffirmed their endorsement of Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, for a second term in office, citing his people-focused governance and commitment to inclusive development.

The reaffirmation was made on Sunday, January 5, 2026, during the 3rd Edition of the Etung State Constituency New Year Stakeholders’ Engagement Session, hosted by the Member representing Etung State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Evang. Hon. Kingsley Ntui Isong.

The event, which also served as a celebration of unity and progress, provided Hon. Isong the opportunity to further demonstrate his dedication to grassroots development and responsive representation. In a major welfare intervention, he distributed over 1,500 bags of rice and cash gifts to residents across Etung Local Government Area.

In addition, the lawmaker officially launched the 2026 Etung State Constituency Tertiary Scholarship Scheme, with scholarship forms distributed to all ten wards of the local government through the respective ward caucus party leaderships, reaffirming his commitment to human capital development and educational advancement.

The engagement attracted a large and diverse gathering of political leaders, traditional rulers, party executives and stakeholders from across Etung LGA. Among the dignitaries present were Prince Ebuta Ayuk, Leader of Etung Politics; a former Presidential Adviser; Hon. Henry Njah, Chairman of Etung Local Government Council; Ntufam Hon. Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk, Commissioner for Health; Eric Ntui Ndifon, APC Chairman in Etung; and Elder Jerry Ajoghe, APC Secretary in Etung.

Also in attendance were Ntufam Hon. Gabe Odu Oji, Pioneer Chairman of Etung LGA and former Commissioner for Water Resources; former Chairmen of Etung LGC including Ntufam Hon. John Oru Etta, Ntufam Hon. Godwin Etim John, and Hon. Dr. Kuti Inok Ebak; as well as former Members of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Christian Achor Agbor and Hon. Ogisa Okongor.

Other notable attendees included Victoria Egba Njah, Community Relations Officer for Etung; Hon. ThankGod Ekubnse, Leader of the Etung Legislative Council, alongside all serving councillors; all APC ward chairmen across the local government; former councillors and vice chairmen; serving supervisors, political appointees and party faithful.

The traditional institution was strongly represented by the Paramount Ruler of Etung, His Royal Majesty, Ambassador Anthony Ntui Etta, accompanied by clan heads and other traditional leaders.

The event, which turned into a mini carnival, was marked by jubilation, solidarity songs and widespread appreciation from the people of Etung, who commended Hon. Kingsley Ntui Isong for his consistent culture of people-centred leadership and effective representation.

In a strong display of unity and loyalty, leaders and stakeholders of the cocoa-rich Etung Local Government Area used the occasion to reaffirm their unwavering support for Governor Bassey Otu, pledging to mobilise total grassroots backing for his re-election bid in 2027, while expressing confidence in his vision for a more prosperous Cross River State.
