COMMENT BY MR CHRIS HOBBS, AN EX- POLICE OFFICER ABOUT “BE A BEACON OF HOPE IN THE WORLD: A MESSAGE TO YOUNG BRITAIN:

“I think your book is excellent. In an ideal world, that book should be given to every head-teacher in the country. If I were a head I'd pick three messages every week and display them prominently, say in the entrance and /or assembly hall so every pupil could see them.

Congratulations.

Chris”

It is hoped that the education managers in Nigeria, most especially, the Federal Ministry of Education, including the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development will find this book of immense benefits to the overall wellbeing, growth and development of the children and young people in Nigeria in these times of moral collapse and youth mental crisis/depression.

THE BLURB

Why does one youngster stab another with a knife which they will never, ever dare to stab themselves with? Why are our young people killing themselves without thinking of the pains and sorrow such barbarism and bestiality will leave their loved ones with for the rest of their lives? Why do some young persons - members of the same community prey on one another with such jungle-like ferocity in the nation’s cities? Why, why are there now so many of such gruesome, purposeless, wicked and unwarranted killings in the nation’s cities as if Britain is now a land that devours its children? More worrisome is the fact that when they are hacked to death so young, what happens to their dreams, visions, goals and aspirations?

Heart-rending as these painful questions are, Be A Beacon of Hope in the World: A Message to Young Britain does not attempt to offer answers to these puzzles arising from the untimely deaths of Britain’s children through knifings. However, it seeks to act as a guidepost, compass and a Sat Nav to point young persons in the direction of the good way and on the path of civility, decency, common sense, humaneness and universal altruism, whereupon they are expected to have respect, first for themselves, for others and for all of life’s forms. Therefore, let the alarm bell which this book has triggered off to warn all young persons in Britain and the world over that to live in the fast lane is to die young, reverberate through the vista of time.

Insecurity in Nigeria and APC’s Wasted Eight Years: What will Muhammadu Buhari be Remembered for?

Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, Nigeria’s Police Affairs Minister: Thoroughly overwhelmed and without an iota knowledge of his statutory functions in that exalted and hallowed office…a public servant whose ineptitude and lack of foresight, forecasting and strategic thinking are unparalleled in modern times. Wallahi, Mallam, inscruty (insecurity) wanna is bery (very) scandalous…. wake up, as you have just a few months to leave that office. But what will Mallam Dingy be remembered for by the children of the coming generations of Nigerians?

Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Nigeria’s Interior Minister: Whilst pointing accusing finger on Mallam Muhammad Buhari, four are pointing back at him. The sad story of a Lover Boy who spent all his years in office writing letter to his wife, Sheri(fat). This is the only thing he knows how to do best in all his life. He’s probably going to open a Love Letter Writing Consulting Firm (LLWCF) after his four wasted years in that exalted office - Oshi oda…a Minister not good value for the toiling masses of Nigeria’s money. Pity! Pity! Pity, then for a man under the influence of Sherifatiod/Sherifatium ‘capsules’.

A Minister of Defence not fit for purpose. But how did he rise to become a Major-General in the so-called Nigeria Army? After having failed to defend the nation with all the enormous resources at his command, Major-General Bashir Salihi Magashi resorted to self-defence theology. This is  very scandalous, General.

THE SERIALIZATION OF THE CRIMEBUSTER

As from next week, we shall as our patriotic response to the ever-worsening security situation in Nigeria, ECOWAS, Africa and in the world start the serialization of my new book The Crimebuster still in manuscript for the global policing, security, and defence community, particularly the Nigerian security agencies.

In the book the author has brought to bear his 17 years of extensive experience in international security, hoping it would help to enrich and engage the global security community the most effective way of policing, especially in multi-cultural, multi-lingual, and multi-racial polities.

It is thus expected that all the Security Chiefs in Nigeria, and those in the nations, including their officers in the frontline would avail themselves the opportunities this vision/project offers in the enrichment of effective and strategic policing skills in the frontline and in the expansion of the policing knowledge frontiers, offering as it were, useful insight into the root causes of crimes in tandem with economies on the wheels in the nations of the world, particularly in Nigeria, and by extension, Africa, Asia, Europe and in the Americas.

THE CRIMEBUSTER’S NATIONAL OPERATIONAL POCKET NOTEBOOK:

EFFECTIVE POLICING, SECURITY AND DEFENCE STRATEGIES FOR FIGHTING CRIME IN A MULTILINGUAL, MULTICULTURAL & MULTI-RACIAL POLITY

Fighting corruption, terror, and other crimes in Nigeria: For God’s sake, what do General Muhammadu Buhari and his Security Chiefs need 946 leads for?

DEDICATION:

Dedicated to all those who run toward dangers when others run away for their dear lives.

  • Wild, Wild America...how the bastion of modern democracy is regressing fast into the State of Nature
  • How a great civilization has fallen

“.....so the nature of war consisteth not in actual fighting, but ... Whatsoever therefore is consequent to a time of war, where every man is enemy to every man, the same consequent to the time wherein men live without other security than what their own strength and their own invention shall furnish them withal.......and which is worst of all, continual fear, and danger of violent death; and the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short.”

THE TERRIBLE STATE OF NATIONAL AND GLOBAL POLICING

The Pocket Notebook

Alkali Baba Usman, IGP of the Police in Nigeria (PIN)

In retrospect, I would recollect my childhood memory of this almighty, all powerful public servant known and called Ipolohi in Yala. The police at this time were feared and dreaded by all Yala, cutting a picture of a no-nonsense figure, very well respected and revered and legend had it he could go to any length to fish out criminals whether at the scene of a crime incident or not, and his presence anytime in the community would often send cold shudder down anyone’s spine.

He was believed to have the unparalleled capacity to unravel any crime, be it homicide or any form of serious crime, using what was believed in Yala to be a mysterious instrument and chemical he could deploy to unravel crime suspects and bring them to justice according to law at the nearby court opposite Ahibutu (a parody of ash bottom, meaning a hospital or a dispensary) at Otuche, whilst cases of the serious nature were referred to Yebi – Ogoja town.

And within the policing family, there is the more dreaded member of the police force, popularly known amongst the Yalas as “C.I.D.” which the author and other classmates of his were to be corrected later by their class teacher and headmaster at St. Gabriel’s Elementary School, Ebo, the legendary Mr Christopher Okobo Aduma that the acronym  “C.I.D.”, in fact, referred to a Unit in the Nigeria Police - Criminal Investigative Department, whilst its operatives are known and called “Detectives”, and not CID as commonly known in Yala.

(Whilst) At St Mel’s Junior Elementary School, Woleche-Ebo, the statutory function of this hitherto very much revered officer of the law featured prominently in our oral tests and written examinations. And as a boy under Mr Leo Ogrinya, the Headmaster of St, Mel’s would make us to cram and memorise his functions in the society in readiness for a question who a policeman is (?), which our quick answer, even if we were to have been woken up from sleep would always be: “A policeman is a person appointed by the Government to keep peace and order!” And in the course of our progression to senior elementary school at Ipuole-Ebo – St Gabriel’s he was simply a law enforcement officer.

But the fortune of that once much feared, yet respected ubiquitous public servant was to change with the geometrical deterioration of national morality together with the devaluation in public service, national standards and integrity, culminating in the present decadence of the total collapse of the national value system. Thus, as the nation and indeed, the whole wide world cascaded from their once Olympian height of value to their present zero morality, the police no less, became abysmally flattened and nose-dived to a state of zero integrity cum zero professionalism.

And its current leprous state has no doubt reduced it to national and international ridicule such that the police in Nigeria – the so-called Nigeria Police is now corruption itself!

And from the slogan: “The police are your friends” to “the police are your your enemies (?); and from running towards, to running away; from a law enforcer to a law breaker; from integrity to disrepute; from saving lives to “kill and go”; a crime fighter to a crime accomplice; from a protector to a predator; a peacekeeper to a troublemaker; from trust to mistrust; from confidence to lack of confidence, etc.

And most lamentably, gone forever were the days when night travellers would go to the police station to pass the night before setting out on their journeys in the morning.

And woe betides any night travellers these days, who would contemplate sheltering at a police station till the following morning whilst on a night journey!

But think you the police in other realms and climes are free from blame? If your answer is “yes”, you gotta think again! And my answer to the question is an emphatic “No!”

The police in the West are adjudged as both institutionally racist and corrupt. And what is more, they are notorious for their racial profiling of persons of African descent and Asian roots/ancestry. And to be able to gauge the depth of the rot in or otherwise pigsty-nature of the British Police, a frustrated youngster in 2007 at the Foyer of the Brent Council Library succinctly captured this when he spluttered at the Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) thus: “You pigs!”

And the i Newspaper of September 30th September 2021 was more scathing, condemnatory, and doubtful of the police: News -

“Women losing trust in police as horrifying details of Sarah Everard murder emerge

Women’s groups say the case ‘has made it difficult for us to confidently say, “Go to the police”

“UK police are under pressure to rebuild trust in their commitments to ensuring women’s safety, after horrifying details emerged over the death of Sarah Everard at the hands of a serving police officer.

“Charities called for wide-scale structural change to address the “epidemic” of violence against women, but added that urgent measures were needed to ensure their safety on Britain’s streets.

“They raised particular concerns over the fact that Ms Everard likely had no way of knowing that she was being falsely arrested by Wayne Couzens, because he showed her his official police identification.”

So, why this very book in these times of national emergency and grave threats to national/global security, international peace, and safety?

If this indeed, is your concern very sincerely, these then are my answers: Crime Buster has come to raise standards not only in national, continental, but in global policing; it has come to resurrect professionalism in national, continental and in global policing and help the global police to redeem their current zero image because Derek Chauvin-style policing which led to the death of George Floyd is totally unacceptable in human community and in our modern world; it has come to instil confidence in, inspire and motivate the highly depersonalized global police whose morale have ebbed abysmally in recent times and imbue them with the much-needed self-worth; and it has come as a morale booster for the police.

Finally, it has come to point the light towards the paths of creative, imaginative, inventive, innovative, and carefully designed, planned, and well executed policing, and thus, help to inaugurate the tradition of traffic light policing globally.

WHY THE AUTHOR IS BEST PLACED TO WRITE THIS BOOK

The author, though an international journalist, scholar, and publisher, is also a professional Security Officer, who has undergone training in counter-terror, CCTV Public Space Surveillance, Advance Guarding, First Aid and Health and Safety.

He has been working and serving in the global security community since 2006 till the very present and he is the publisher of Vigilance – The World’s Leading Security Magazine which he founded in 2010 to tackle the multivarious global security problems.

Mr Aduma who has attended various courses in conventional and regular security operations and counter terror such as ACT, had worked under Project Griffin, a counter-terror project - the national counter terrorism awareness initiative of the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO), the Home Office during which time he served at the White Hall, Westminster, London and attached to the Department of Health under the Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt MP.

And in that capacity, he worked alongside the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) at Westminster; in addition to working closely with the Hertfordshire Constabulary and the Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and the Metropolitan Police Service generally since 2006.

He is thus, best suited to write this book.

PREAMBLE

With 946 leads to Mujahid Muhammadu Buhari and his Kangaroo Security Chiefs jumping kadogo, kadogo all over the place, antagonising one another and not working as a team, JOHN ODEY ADUMA asks many searching questions: how does one help a born and an administrative failure and make him to become successful in the twilight of his life?

How do you help a student who records F-9 Parallel in all of his subjects at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level? How do you bring a man with a pre-historic mindset to the 21st century? How do you digitalize an analogue man in the Age of the Internet?

How do you teach a medievalist potentate to imbibe and embrace the basic elements of democracy? How do you train up a man in the twilight of his life the way he should go and when he ever grows up he will not depart from it?

How do you add to the faculty of a man which by natural/biological design can only contain three bestialities – jihad, sharia and ruga?

How do you teach a man to be broad, large-hearted and universal in thinking who is naturally clannish, nepotistic, provincial, regionalistic, Fulanistic, bigoted, sanguinary, nihilistic, dictatorial, tyrannical, bestial, monstrous, misogynistic, Lilliputian in everything Lilliputianistic and unidirectional in thinking, irridentist, tall in height like a pawpaw tree, but very little-minded with a bestial militaristic mindset, to in the twilight of his life become broad, large, broadminded, universalistic to the point of making him to embrace universal altruism, love, unity in diversity, national and cultural sensitivity, national integration and cohesion, the rule of law, democracy and become nationalistic, and by extension, internationalistic?

Whilst Mr Aduma reflects on and laments the ugly fate of a man naturally destined to be reckoned in the national hall of fame amongst the nation’s fathers and greats, but decided to cheat on his destiny by becoming an ijimaye (Yala, for a very tiny and irritant insect) on the nation’s canvass and global stage, he is also asking with tears in his eyes and a great sorrow in his heart whether this former Leader of his, as this writer was once MB’s disciple, naturally a giant of a man and a man-Leviathan, but has chosen to reconfigure himself to become a pigmy can be redeemed even in his twilight with 946 leads to combat the pervasive crimes of all sorts in Nigeria, reduce the now 24/7very worrisome blood-lettings and re-write his name in the national/international halls of fame and be listed in the eternal book of the giants and subsequently be reckoned amongst the Ages as a “man who came amongst us”?

But Aduma, though not a pessimist, thinks Muhammadu Buhari’s failures in this Third Coming of his are irredeemable such that he will forever be remembered as that very stupendous and gargantuan failure who came, saw but did not achieve!

Pity! Pity!

Again, I say: “Pity!” And pity then.

Therefore, let the Nigerian people and the world join with me to echo these words until they ring and everlastingly reverberate across the vista of time and unto eternity.

THE STONY-HEARTED TRIUMVIRS

Undoubtedly and more worrisome too, under the current state of lamentable affairs in which the Nigerian state has been forced into the state of nature, rogue and failed state, an Aceldama of sort (Field of Blood), axis of violence and a nation perpetually at war, the trio of Garba Shehu, Femi Adesina, and the DISHONOURABLE MINISTER OF DISINFORMATION AND ‘SHIORKOR, Lai Mohammed, have constituted themselves into an ignominious TRIUMVIRATE that now rules Nigeria!

Please visit also, Sahara Reporters by clicking this link: Nigerians Should Be Thankful They’re Not Crossing Borders To Look For Food Under Buhari – Presidential Aide, Femi Adesina | Sahara Reporters, accessed: 30/04/2022.

Did Pastor Adesina echo Admiral Augustus Aikhomu who in the 80s told Nigerians living in cities to return to the village or go and buy garri therefrom if they were finding it increasingly difficult to live in the cities?

BUT COULD THIS BE THE EPITAPH FOR THE GENERAL?

Here lies the tall-little man who came, saw, ran, governed, but failed very woefully and shot AK-47 at the soul of the nation and scattered/destroyed the umbilical cord that hitherto bound the Nigerian people together as one, hence our nation can no longer act like one.

YET, ECHOES OF THE COMING JOYOUS MELODY

“For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”

  • Psalm 30:5.

Despite all that have befallen the nation in recent times under, especially Muhammadu Buhari, soon and very soon, we shall sing the song of redemption, even the Song of Nigeria and usher in our greater and golden tomorrow, bright and beautiful!
