Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the National Electoral Commission…not INEC, but NEC as there is no such a thing in Nigeria as Independent National Electoral Commission!

THE GREAT SUMMONS (vigilance-securitymagazine.com)

As our compatriots back home go to the poll tomorrow to vote; on behalf of other Nigerians diaspora worldwide, this writer ‘d like to ask firstly, INEC, and secondarily, fellow Nigerians back home, this his only one question: Where will the Diaspora Nigerians vote tomorrow?

Since 2004, I have continued to draw the attention of the nation and successive governments to this obvious lapse in our national political life, going further to propose the enactment of a relevant Act to put appropriate machinery in place for the Diaspora Nigerians too to exercise their voting right, just as their compatriots at home because we too are Nigerians. But all these calls have been to no avail!

Truth is that all elections in Nigeria since the 1960s have remained incomplete and inconclusive without the votes of all the generations of Nigerians who have been living abroad.

Disenfranchising hundreds of millions of Nigerians in every election since the beginning of our national odyssey, is not only a crime against humanity, but is a testament to the fact that even in the 21st century, our Nigeria is still stuck in analogue thinking, thoroughly devoid of deep, reflective, holistic, universal, helicopter and global or helicopter thinking; nay, creativity, innovation, imagination and inventiveness.

Yet, let the trumpets blasting from the North; from the South; from the East; from the West, and from every nook and cranny of the nation – towns, cities, hamlets, and villages; from the roof tops, mountains tops, hills and valleys, summon every Nigerian who had patriotically obtained their PVC to every polling booth to cast their ballot.

But will All Poverty Continue (APC), or every citizen severally will say: All Poverty Carriers (APC), e do?

THE GREAT SUMMONS

Throughout the length and breath of Nigeria, the bugle is being blown to summon all Nigerians to answer this national call. This call is to be Nigerian in all things Nigerian without recourse to ethnicity and violence; this call is to be humane in all things and be selfish in nothing. It is a summons to integrity; courage; to excellent service to humanity, this call is to every Nigerian to occupy their minds with serious things; to wipe out injustice and lay the foundation of an egalitarian society of fraternal proximity, to be punctual to work and to be committed to our employers. It is a summons to the employers that the workers deserve their wages; it is also a summons to workers not to turn their places of work into places of merchandize. Yea, it is a summons which places loyalty to fatherland above all else, to creativity and individual initiatives; to every Nigerian to carry their own cross and depend less on the Government; it is a summons for purposeful and visionary leadership and a dedicated, creative and committed followership. This call is an appeal for dialogue and understanding; it is an appeal against endless borrowing by the Government; it is an appeal for the diversification of the economy and a form of privatization that is fair to all concerned.
