Governor Gandu receive a plaque from the Naval Chief

Scorpion has learnt the Nigerian Navy are to site a Base in the land of Bayajida, but the questions to which conscientious Nigerian are looking for answers are: another Federal Character madness and folly? And will this be good value for money? Only time will tell.

Scorpion can confirm that the plan by the NN to site a Base in Kano was unfolded at a recent meet between the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo and Mallam Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in the latter’s office.

The claim for the Base as Scorpion had learnt is security-induced, with Gandu as we hear wishful-thinking the facility would strengthen the security of the state.

The obsequious Naval Chief during his trip to the ancient city for the Chief of Naval Staff Annual Conference 2021 held between the 1st to 5th this month excitedly announced: “Your Excellency I am glad to inform you that the Nigerian Naval Board has approved the establishment of Naval Base in Kano, which falls among other Naval Bases approved by the Board in some selected states”.

Hoping the base would keep potential and would-be insurrectionists at bay like plagues, CNS Gambo added: “it will contribute to showcasing the efforts of the Nigerian Navy in keeping Nigeria as one indivisible nation,” noting: “We have already appointed the Acting Commander of the Base, who is Captain Muhammad Abubakar Alhassan, who should henceforth be part of the security architecture of the state.”

Gambo who was full of praise for AUG enthused: “we are equally thankful to Your Excellency’s effort and support, particularly by allocating 100 hectares of land for our new Naval Base in the state”.

And responding Governor Gandu reciprocally appreciated the Nigerian Navy for choosing Kano to host their Conference saying: “Your choice of Kano shows how concerned you are for the security and safety of the state. It also tells others that Kano is safe, secured, and peaceful. It gives us more courage to be above board in securing our dear state”.

Governor Ganduje afterwards assured the CNS that the newly appointed acting Commander of the Naval Base in Kano would be part of the security egg heads in the state, so would henceforth be given the invite to attend the state security meetings.
