“…securing a nation state is the collective responsibility of all of its citizens, both private and corporate.”

YO! NANJIRIYA UNDER SHEIKH MUHAMADU BUHARI ISN’T WORKING - KWENSKWENTLY, A VOTE OF NO CONFRIDRENCE, WALLAI!

In view of the current threats to national security coupled with the unparalleled national adversities into which the nation has been plunged since Muhammadu Buhari rode back to power in 2015, we are compelled by national duty and an unalloyed patriotism to alert the Nigerian authorities and the Nigerian people again, especially having been doing so in the last 27 years about the porosity and incomparable vulnerability of the nation’s national and international borders.

These two very worrisome states of the nation’s borders – North, South, East and West are such that foreign elements have been sneaking in and out to commit all sorts crimes, and having so done, sneaked out, lamentably sometimes, with the aid of even the statutory gate keepers of the nation’s borders and some very unpatriotic elements in our midst, bent on collapsing the Nigerian Federation for pecuniary gains.

The lamentable border porosity is such that a ‘Leviathan’ can be stolen from Nigeria and access any of the borders into other ECOWAS nations with ease and undetected, just as a porter could be hired to carry the ‘tetrarch’ of the jungle on his head from any of the ECOWAS countries into Nigeria unchallenged by the gossiping/sleeping men and women at every border ‘gate’/checkpoints unchallenged – and whenever/if they are awake, all such porters who are very well known to the security; and in fact, co-conspirators, merely do palm-touching and they would be asked to “carry on” or “carry go” – the borders men and women’s version of TAKE A BOW AND GO!

A careful dissection of the very worsened state of the general insecurity in Nigeria is blameable not only on these border porosity and vulnerability, but also, on the nation’s internationally well-known zero intelligence gathering and an absence of strategic security and defence policy which undoubtedly has exposed the Nigerian state to likely and imminent invasion by external aggressors who are not in any way far off from the nation’s seat of power.

We note also, with dismay and unparalleled embarrassment that in these times of grave threats to national security, there has been a lack of coordination and team work amongst the nation’s security agencies regarding “who is the greatest” in the kingdom of powers – the political kingdom of Nigeria, such as we have not failed to bring it to the attention of any government in power since the return to democracy in 1999.

Very vulnerable too are FCT or should we say THE FULBES CAPITAL CITY (FCC), states’ capital cities, the BIG RUGA, critical national infrastructure (CNI) – airports, seaports, mega dams, major bridges – and not unlikely, virtually all the major critical economic bridges serving major highways in Nigeria have never been given any face-lift since constructed nor maintained, even those constructed when according to Prayerful Jack “Money? Money is not our problem. We had so much money that we don’t even know what to do with it.”

This Gowonian irresponsibility is so now true, especially in this day and age of stupendous corruption – the Age of WEALTH WITHOUT WORKING, WEALTH WITHOUT SWEATING, WEALTH WITHOUT SUFFERING when every child and young person too in that nation have been infected with National Cake Syndrome (NCS), explains the current and pervasive youth violence in Nigeria.

Others vulnerable CNI include, the list by no means inexhaustive - NASS, states houses, selected palaces, major markets, including political officials and other crooks in the business and the professions!

Whilst the bestial in-fighting amongst the nation’s security agents lasted, including the security chiefs themselves as to who should sit on the right hand of the President, who himself have shown overt leaning towards the military, especially his former military constituency – the army which he has personally continued to boost their supremacy quest – their self-acclaimed superiority over the other security agencies through his personal relationship, preferences and assignments/task, which most of the time usurped policing functions, thereby turning the nation’s police service into a mere policing eunuch, a situation which has over time led to the frustrations of the police hierarchy and their officers and men/women, reducing it to a mere ‘tribal militia’ without the needed equipment to fight crime, leaving the outfit now without character, personality, without confidence and rudderless, we call for a change of tactics and strategy in the defence, securing and policing of heterogeneous and multi-lingual Nigeria, with this review going pari-passu with a review of the composition of the security chiefs that do not reflect federal character and a total overhaul and actual reform of the police, the military and par-military.

Also, whilst this bestiality of the security agencies lasts, in addition to the deepening bad blood amongst them, are we going to continue to leave our critical national infrastructure, national and international boundaries unmanned or someone is already involved in strategic thinking such as building walls or barracks to house all the fighting idiots and the robotic zombies, stretching throughout the length and breadth of all the nation’s international borders, establishing as it were, a Border Force and Management as we had already proposed time and again in the past which should be an admixture/amalgam of all the security agencies, and merging some as it were, as the policing space in Nigeria is too, too crowded such that every Omaga and Omagu have turned themselves into the police, carrying out arrestable functions, which is constitutionally that of the police, with due regard for citizens’ arrest as a last resort, but as required by the law, handed such law breakers to the police immediately.

These indulgences are most common with retired military Generals who were/are now ministers – the fragile ego maniacs such as the Islamist Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, even the National Parks guards conduct themselves like the police and the military – and their Conservators-General do so comport themselves like actual military Generals – a common mentality amongst all the Directors-General of the various MDAs, as evident in our unbroken coverage period, especially of the National Parks for over nine years!

Also, in addition to building walls/barracks across our international borders, North and South, there must be continuous and unceasing 24/7 guarding and manning of the borders – patrol for both visual deterrence and reassurance; 24/7 vehicular – van/car/space/satellite and helicopter surveillance for the same reason afore-mentioned; establishment of volunteer corps in all the security agencies to meet this national exigencies and the services of these volunteers should be retained permanently; using retired military and the police – the Nigerian Legion and such others in both the military, the police and para-military; forming reserve corps in all the agencies, and in agencies where there exists already, recall them immediately to participate in this task of securing the nation, for securing a nation state is the collective responsibility of all of its citizens, both private and corporate; recall all the police and soldiers currently guarding the so-called big men and women - retired Generals/IGPs/ inclusive, blue chip companies/multinationals, including all the police/soldiers guarding elected legislators/senators, governors, local government chairpersons and councillors, special assistants to such crooks and the Presidential aides enjoying such unmerited services as having arrays of police personnel following them about, just to swell their egos; traditional rulers, top level civil servants such as directors and permanent secretaries, business men and women – for there are currently between over 175 – 200, 000 or more of the nation’s policing men and women serving off beat – not in the front line, but attending to these egomaniacs called big men and women and traditional rulers, governors – why must these Federal employees be made to be guarding Governors, their wives, state commissioners, local government chairpersons and their wives, and in some ridiculous cases, councillors and their wives, who are merely elected state officers?

Even some NURTW chairmen and Trade/Labour execs also have police following them about.

What about all those past Heads of State, ex-military chiefs like T.Y Danjuma and his ilk, ex-ministers, ex-diplomats, ex-police chiefs, ex-para-military Chiefs - can they explain to the nation, all of her friends and the world entire, why they still have almost the same number of police, the military and para-military as if they are all still in active service to the nation?

Yet these crooks and pen robbers who had stolen the nation blind are the people shouting the loudest about insecurity!

What about ignominious traditional rulers jumping all over the place, moving in and out, going to and from the Presidency talking rubbish about INSECURITY? What exactly makes them think they are entitled to the services of the police, whose salaries are paid by the toiling masses of Nigeria, the very people suffering the brunt of insecurity?
