IBRAHIM KPOTUN IDRIS: THE ABANDONMENT OF DUTY

PART 1

SERIES: BUHARISM AND THE SWIFT URGENCY OF NOW

In the face of the current high crime rate of all sorts ravaging every nook and cranny of the Nigerian State, it's very shocking to know what preoccupies the small mind of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotun Idris of the national police is not how to combat all these by partnering with all the communities in Nigeria, expanding the frontiers of crime fighters, upgrading policing in Nigeria from its primitive and antedilluvian policing to international standards of effective policing, befitting a multicultural, multi-lingual Nigeria and making the nations's police become representative, buying state of the art policing equipmemt and gadgets, including drones and helicopters, body armours and body worn cameras for the police, building habitable barracks, having police stations that are of international standards, coming up with befitting uniforms, looking at the welfare status of the police, buying new vehicles, encouraging graduates and women to take to a career in the police service, embarking on researches, training and development, and moving the police from its current people-unfriendly/bestial/jungle-like status to a people-friendly one, etc, but to embark on an egostical ingloriousness of wanting to open a separate broadcaster for the police community in Nigeria.

What arrant nonsense! This ill-thought and ill-conceived project is a good example of resource wastatge and aimed at expanding the financial coast of Mr Kpofool and all the buffoons around this potentially corruptive enterprise which the President must do well to stop immediately.

The fact that no Nigerian media since Mr Sleeper has been bandying about with this ignominious idea has written any editorial to condemn it and call for its stoppage, goes to show the sorry state of journalism in Nigeria currently.

The so-called project will be launched and crooks and robbers will be invited to donate the very money they had stolen from the state, which in a sane environment they should be accounting for, and jailed in the process. So if people who are supposed to be facing police investigations are being called upon to dash stolen money to kpoworm and the con private partners around the project, what will happen when they all run foul of the law? But who is thrilled by the thought of the rubbish being able to offer 5, 000 jobs to the very children of the Nigerian crooks?

The current level of intelligence gathering in Nigeria within the police and the military is still at zero level, hence Boko Haram and other criminals have the upper hands, making the police and the military merely reactive instead of being highly proactive in what ought by my reckoning is a mere twelve-hour operation, but has been going on since nineteen krididi, with Boko having the upper the hand and a more sophisticated fire power.

As well as zero policing and zero intelligence gathering in multi-cultural Nigeria, there is gross absence of team work/team spirit amongst the police, the military, the inteliigence community, the para-military and the Nigerian people. This explains the current relationship amongst the community and the Nigerian people. What is worse, there is a very high level of treachery amongst them, with some of them working against the Nigerian state, leaking information to Boko Haram, foreign spies, criminals, and letting into the country, whether at sea ports, airports or land borders things that are potentially detrimental to the well-being of the Nigerian state and the cause of Nigerianism! These should be areas of concern for the police, the military and the community and not having a broadcaster.

This rubbish project will live on handouts from the corporate organizations and individuals  via adverts and 'bribes', courtesy of the forthcoming launch which is being planned to hold in November, which the Presidency must stop immediately. So if the adverts ceases to flow and if the crooks refuse to donate their ill-gotten money, whenever they run foul of the law and the IGP and his team invite them for questioning, what will then happen - the so-called police broadcaster will now fall back on the Federal Government, States, Local Governments for subventions or go do almajiri at the corridors of Their Eshio-ellencies and other political crooks that abound in that country?

There's hardly a security company in Nigeria that does not have a serving senior police such as commisioner of police on their boards, where not directly owned by them. This is having a divided attention/loyalty/allegiance and a conflict of interest whilst on active national service - this is where the IGP should be directing his energy at, as well as withdrawing the police from the so-called big men and women in that country, who are nothing, but all crooks and thugs, including the palace idiots, their Lawless Hignesses, in particular, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, a very depraved fellow, yet to come to terms with the pervasive threats to national security, which by his gangsterism, he has been encouraging.
