EXECUTIVE EDITORIAL SUMMARY

Executive Editorial which is intended as a summary of burning national and international issues is the brain child of the EDITORIAL BOARDS OF VIGILANCE AND SCORPION to draw the attention of the nation's rulers to sensitive national issues in a concise manner and as the two Boards' inputs to the governance of Nigeria.

It will be critical, analytical, yet constructive, advisory, scholarly and will offer solutions to issues under examination. Therefore, read it, digest it, think and act on it!
Now, no more excuses from Their Excellencies, other VIPs, CEOs and decision makers in the nation's national life who won't read newspaper editorials for reasons of being too long, windy, trite, preachy and without common sense.

'Carry go', Mr President!
THE Nigerian people have paid their fares for the journey. As the driver of the national molue, you don't expect them to fuel the bus for you. And no oil subsidy removal please! Also, no neocolonial, neofeudal policies please. Just 'CARRY GO' and let the bus conductor, 'Leke London' look for change for the passengers. Hey, hang on a minute, Mr President! But where is your team?

Kai, Mallam, stop running one-man GOVENAMENT...democracy ba military, Presidency ba Supreme Military Council (SMC)

JUST who exactly is Muhammadu Buhari consulting with before making all these very important national decisions such as his on going lopsided telegraphic appointments, dismantling of national institutions and dissolution of Boards including the recent bailout to States, or he is just doing it subject to his whims and caprices or acting on the spur of the moment or when suffering brain waves or just as a military despot taking national decisions as a soldier at Mammy Market under the influence of Brukutu or simply just a re-enacment of his despotic and tyrannical days as the Supreme Commander in the infamous Supreme Military Council when he had the power of life and death to give either to whomsoever he pleased?
We had earlier warned when we declared it was impossible for a 'viper' to change his vipertitude, just as it is impossible for a very narrow-minded islamist bigot to suddenly embrace liberal and universal thinking such as universal altruism and we have been vindicated. But whatever be the case, Buhari must assemble his team, stop dragging civil servants into partisan politics and compromise the integrity of the nation's civil service because at the end of the day, the Nigerian nation is the ultimate loser.
By way of conclusion, we would like to stress here again, having done that earlier, that President Buhari must thorougly demilitarise himself; learn to embrace democracy in totality; work as a people's President able to be a team player, which currently he is not, and finally, not only play by the rule, but follow due process.
But then we remember, Buhari is a General and not a Democrat!

'Yoga Evangelist' as First Lady, but what has Aisha Buhari got to sell to India?

WE were embarassed and shame-faced to learn the First Lady Aisha Buhari mouthing it through Mrs Alanyingi Sylva that Nigeria should embrace Yoga. This call by Mrs Buhari brings to mind Africa's trademark penchant for other people's cultures and civilizations to the disregard and detriment of theirs, hence the continent's current backwardness .
We also recall that since the destruction of Black civilization dating back to 4500 BC by the Arabs and the European in the later centuries - 16 Century - Africans have embraced Arabism/feudalism/neofeudalism, occidentalism (colonialism), neocolonialism, neoliberalism , globalism and lately, orientalism, but just what -isms do Mrs Buhari and other Africans have to sell to the rest of the world?

Removal of oil subsidy: Fragile...handle with care

WE did say in one of our special reports recently that once desperate leaders without ideas and visions of their own - amongst these lots - MUHAMMADU BUHARI pander to the pressures put on them by the West asking them to come up with their so-called "wish lists", the next thing they too will do is to present their prospective beneficiaries with their plundering lists! And the removal of oil subsidy is one such. This is a satanic bait Buhari must not fall for, for reasons of obvious consequencies.
But just when will the West embark on removal of subsidy from their agro economy which places their farmers at a great advantage over the rest of the world? And just when will there be a level playing field in global trade in this day and age - even in the Age of globalization?

The President's meet with State House Press Corp

GOOD Move! Keep it up! Charity should always begin at home. Buhari is generally known for his obsequious romance with the Western media, snubbing the home press, dating back to his first coming in the 80s as a military Head of State when he and Major General Tunde Idiagbon sent Dr Isma'il Babatunde Jose to the United Kingdom to solicit good/favourable coverage by Western media for his administration. Is this a jix-breaking move then? But despite the President's HANDVELOPE to the State House Correspondents, we still have our doubt that MB is a friend of the press. A-I-Tee!
Lest we forget, there's Brown envelope 'epidemic' in Aso Rock and in all State Houses across the country. Again, in line with the above saying, the President must be up with his winnowing fork!

Viability test for the continued existence or otherwise of States and Local Government Councils in Nigeria

HENCEFORTH, any of the tiers of Government above which cannot pay salaries for three months should be deemed not viable and be collapsed into the ones that are viable or proved to have been viable by consistently and without fail, meet their statutory obligations to their citizens.
We deplore a situation where these governmental tiers will continue living on the 'doles' from the central government in the case of the so-called bailout to them by the Federal Government. It is therefore, our candid advice to these tiers of Government that political officials at the helm of affairs at these levels of Government must begin to put on their thinking caps in order to generate their own incomes to meet their statutory obligations to those who have voted them in instead of always depending on the Federal Government's 'benefits'.

That Nigeria and Africa may no longer be the warehouse for the rest of the worrld

GLOBALIZATION or not, only very stupid nations do so generously open their doors wide open for all sorts of manufactured goods from all realms and climes to be dumped on them, thereby killing local initiatives and industries - and Nigeria is one such foolish nations and Africa is the foolish continent of the world! Just when will anyone out there in Nigeria/Africa stop this rubbish and stupendous folly?

Religious tourism: The folly of a people

SHOOTING straight and going straight to the point, we want to establish the fact that religion is a higly private indulgent and must be left to remain so, without the State getting involved by way of using public funds to sponsor the priviledged few with connections at the various levels of government to embark on such 'holy' nonsense.
Wasting tax payers' money to the tune of N70 billion at a time when salaries are not being paid is not only an exhibition of crass insensitivity, but downright wickedness and this rubbish has got to stop henceforth.
At the end of the day, any geo-zone of the world is as holy as all of its inhabitants want or make it to be.
Also, need we remind the adherents of the two faiths in Nigeria that God or the worship of Him is not limited by geography.
All the Government can do with respect to the yearly religious tourism is to provide for security and ensure the safety of citizens participating in these rituals, leaving the apex national associations of the two faiths to handle the rest matters as they deem fit.
Henceforth, the central government alongside independent auditors must put appropriate machinery in place to ensure accountability at all levels of Government, so the Federal Government is not turned into a Father Christmas, always giving without accountability, or be turned into a NATIONAL BENEVOLENT FUND.
After all, despite the 'over-churched' and 'over-mosqued' nature of the Nigerian society, the rot inherent stinks to high heaven!
